Help Notification and Folders Question

1. That's the only way I've found to do it. Someone else may have a better solution though.
2. You can only freeze or remove apps if you're rooted. I'm not sure if touchwiz has the feature but I know most of the 3rd party launchers, such as go launcher can create folders where you can store you're unwanted apps. Open you're app draw and press menu, if you see new folder its possible.

My notifications turn up/down when I use the volume buttons on the side of the phone
Not sure if mine did or not, have downloaded AUDIOMANAGER PRO from the market
in the settings you have the option to link the Ringer & Notification volumes or to keep them seperate
