Help Peeling Finish :-/

Well, took a while but the coating on my kickstand is starting to peel off now. I know it was a topic of discussion a few months back and no one seemed too put out by it. It certainly doesn't seem to affect the functionality of the phone and there's nothing else wrong with it.

I was wondering if anyone was having any great problems with this or had even felt the need to get a warranty replacement? Like I said, it doesn't seem to be a big problem, but I was curious to hear if anyone else had serious problems with this to the degree of needing to have it replaced. Enquiring minds want to know! Thanks much!

it bothered me something fierce, but i just got some 1200 grit sandpaper and went to town for about 30 minutes. then hit it with some aluminum polish and the thing is blingin'

Take a penny to it.

Its softer than the kickstand so it wont scratch and leaves the 'with Google' in tact.

I sanded, polished and eventually painted my last bolt, but I like the clean look the penny gives.

Mine started peeling about a month ago & looks like crap. But there's kickstand/entire phone skins you can buy. Just ordered this one just for the kickstand

This is exactly what I did eventually at least, I tried different objects to chip it off first so I got some scratches from tries before I found the penny.

This is somewhat unrelated, but does anyone know how to clean out the speaker behind the kickstand? Taking the thunderbolt in and out of my pocket has built up some dust/fuzz in the speaker. I've tried to blow it out, but it doesn't seem to work.

I bet aluminum foil works, too. Mine is finally starting to peel on the edges.

I did paint it, flat black, looked good with a case but now that I've been rocking it naked it would look out of place. I got pics on one of the peeling kickstands threads.

And I'd love to powder coat it if someone can find a semi easy way to remove the kickstand without taking apart the phone.

My kickstand is starting to peel and it didn't bother me at first, but it is starting to get worse. I was just planning to leave it alone, but the penny trick sounds good. I would under no circumstances re-enter refurb hell because of the kickstand. The paint peeling is the lesser of the two problems with my kickstand. The kickstand on this particular bolt sticks out about 2mm and I solved that issue with a $3 eBay semi-hard silicone case. I prefer it over those annoying soft silicone cases.

Used a penny and kickstand looks dope now. I thought I was going to damage the kickstand with how hard I had to scrape it with the penny, but it looks fine. Going to get some aluminum polish and shine it up. The only 'downfall' (doesn't really bother me) I've noticed is the aluminum shows every smudge/fingerprint imaginable.

that depends on how shiny you want it.
i would scratch off the clear with a penny,
then hit it with some mothers aluminum polish (from an automotive store)
want it shinier?
take some 1200 Grit wet sand paper (obviously dont wet it) and go to town
follow up with the polish again.
even more shiny?
i would hit it with some 1500 grit, then move to 2000 grit, then mothers polish again. this should put it at a "mirror" like finish.

I would like to put out there that I work at a powdercoating place. If any of you guys and gals are brave enough to take their phone apart to take off your kickstand. I will powdercoat it for free. Just have to mail ot to me. We have many different colors. I would be happy to help out any way I can in this board.

That's nice of you, but I think it'd be a PITA taking the kickstand off. Looks very tedious to the naked eye
