I love my Bionic - it's awesome. I do have a recurring problem though.
At least one of my applications keeps "uninstalling" itself. Without any input on my behalf (because I wouldn't), my application disappears while the desktop icon remains. When I try to open via the desktop shortcut, Android tells me "Application is not installed on your phone." When I go into the All Apps menu, the program isn't even listed; only the desktop short-cut remains. I end up going into the marketplace and re-downloading the application. Launching it again, all my data is already populated which confirms that A) I once had the application installed and B) at least part of the program is still on my phone.
Question:
How can I prevent my phone from unistalling programs without my consent?
Additional info:
In the above example, the specific program I've experienced problems with is called PocketCloud - it allows me to utlize the RDP remote desktop protocol on my Ubuntu tablet connected to my home wifi. I've had a similar problem with another application called AndroidVNC, which I use for a similar VNC connection to my Windows 7 home edition desktop (since home edition doesn't come with RDP software and I don't know how to add it, whereas UltraVNC is easy). I use the free version of both applications, simply because I'm hesistant on purchasing if this problem is going to persist. I had a similar problem with applications on my Eris which I never resolved (different applications - and the removal of applications seemed random both in selection and timing); I've always just reinstalled the applications without complaining or searching for a solution. Please help! If I'm doing something wrong (which I cannot imagine what it would be) let me know. If there's a fix out there, let me know. Or if there's some built-in Android RDP software, also let me know. Note: Zumocast (while awesome) does not actually let me interact with the GUIs of the programs I'm running remotely and therefore doesn't provide the capability I need.
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
P.S. I have not rooted my phone or tampered with the OS. I'm running stock software (2.3.4) and have only installed applications from the Android marketplace. My understanding is that marketplace applications have been screened by experts and are therefore safe; and I don't feel proficient enough in the Android OS to attempt rooting yet. My phone has never even been connected to a computer via USB, bluetooth, or other.
