Bionic thoughts so far

I bought the bionic about three Weeks ago. Thought it was a great device for a whole. I'll list the pros and cons.

Pros - great screen. Fast data on 4g. Gingerbread. Solid feel to the hardware. dual core.

Cons - battery is weak....very weak. Screen randomly locks. Data has randomly doored a good bit. Camera is absolute crap.

Any thoughts? The screen lock is unbelievably annoying. I was on a call earlier and I was trying to get something off my phone while connected. As soon as I would slide to unlock and try and navigate, it would immediately lock. The battry sucks but what do you expect? I bought another battery off Ebay.

You were on a call on your bionic? I didn't think it locked when on a call or if your navigating on the phone? Anyways I haven't experienced anything goofy like that with the lock screen with my bionic.

What setting are you using for your screen timeout? Also do you have in pocket detection on? might be an issue with the phone thinking that you put the phone in your pocket so you might have hardware issues? My friend had that happen to her bionic. When she turned that feature on, her phone would automatically lock. Not sure what sensor the bionic uses to activate that feature but apparently it was the cause of her issues. She got it replaced and no more issues.

It's amazing how some people are having atrocious battery life and some are getting great. I fall into the latter category (and I'm very much a power user). I, though, am not currently in a 4G area, and have a pretty decent 3G signal. I know people in fringe locations are the ones that have the most trouble.

Overall, I love this beast. And it's just that, a beast. I've been playing with the GS2 for about a week, and I can't call it a better phone.

I'd have to say that 4G is probably the extreme culprit where people like myself are not getting good battery life. Is what it is! The speed comes with a price tag I guess...

Same here. I can go several days without recharging. I have gone in and turned off unnecessary "running" applications and I ALWAYS use WiFi when it is available. I also have DATA SAVER turned on and I think that helps. I'm also using an extended battery with an app from the app store (Battery Notifier) to keep track of my status.

Not to belittle anyone because I'm sure that their issues are very real, but folks need to make sure that they are "tweaking" as much as possible to get the most out of their battery. Turn off unnecessary running programs and turn on Data Saver. I also do not keep my screen on full bright.

I took my phone off the charger about 30 minutes ago at full charge. I've probably sent 10 texts and gone to maybe 3 sites. No phone calls and no 4g....and my battery its at 80%.

Yeah, that's totally not normal. Some guy had suggested that maybe the Bionic was not charging the battery all the way. Maybe some bionics think the battery is fully charged but it really isn't.

My heaviest use is my commute in the morning where I stream podcasts for an hour and 1/2. My battery drops to 90% within that time. After that, my battery last throughout the day with some browsing and texting. It's at about 40% when I leave work and it's at 30% or less when I get home. I have a standard battery so it seems like I get about 12-14 hrs during the work week.

Unteal. If played pandora, out would literally due in about 2 hours from a full charge. Constantly use task killer and have no background. Unreal. Maybe ill call and get a warranty swap on my battery

The task killer is not helping, but hurting. Killing tasks just has them re-spawn, using the battery, rather than sit idle in the background. Try seeing if things are better without the task killer.

I don't use Pandora or anything like it - that's what my iPod is for - so I can't comment on that battery life. It does seem radically low, though. Are you using 4G? Is battery life better if you switch the radio to 3G only?
