Hi, only has my s2 3 days, i previously had the htc desire, when i was connected to 3g it always showed as 3G or 3G+, at high speed the htc desire would show as H+

on the s2 (on the same network as before) my data speed only ever shows at 3G+ at the most, i havn't seen it once change to H+ is this right?

hmm im finding it a bit weird because i haven't changed provider, i am on orange and havn't changed my service plan either, with my htc desire in my house i would get h+ and in work i would get h+

now with the s2 it just says 3g+ at home and in work, it hasn't changed to h+ once.

very odd, not sure what to do or just leave it.

I'm not sure if HSPA+ uses the exact same technology as HSPA or not, but if it does then I guess it would theoretically be possible for the HTC Desire to connect to and use a HSPA+ network even though it's not capable of HSPA+ speeds. The Desire maxes out at 7.2mbps, whereas Three's HSPA+ network is capable of 21mbps - so it's about three (no pun intended) times as fast as the Desire can handle.

Hi guys, I've got an S2 on T-Mobile mobile (UK) was running gingerbread always had H+ a lot of the time, but since I upgraded to ICS (via kies) I now only get 3G+ not even a sniff of H+, I've had a few other issues with ICS which I've yet to work out. I think it was buggy when t-slowbile released it which is weired considering they were the late network to release ICS. not sure of this helps anybody but I just thought I'd throw it out there B-)

I'm on Virgin which uses Orange/T-Mobile and regularly see H+ when using data. If you go to Settings/About Phone/Status and scroll down you will see the 'Mobile Network Type' and at the moment mine reads HSPA:11 which is H+.

You do need to know that the phone will automatically fall back to 3G when not using data to save battery power so it will only show H+ when data is in use.

If you are still having problems I'd check you operator settings by going to Settings/Wireless and network/More.../Mobile Networks/Access Point Names, this will give the settings which you can check against your service providers recommended settings which should be on their website.

Only comes up when using data though and never when using wifi.

That's because wifi connections are used for data if available.

i wonder wats the speeds when 4G hits the air.

The official ITU-R requirements for 4G are peak rates of 1Gbps for stationary users e.g. pedestrians and 100Gbps for high-mobility comms e.g. cars and trains.

I'm running ICS 4.0.3 on T-mobile in the UK. My phone has never show either H or H+, all I have ever seen is G and G+.

When the phone is showing G the Mobile Network Type states UMTS:3. When displaying G+ the Mobile Network Type states HSPA:11.

From SRH990's post then HSPA:11 is H+ but for me this is showing as G+ in the notification bar.

I carried out a speed test and it came in with Download 3.19 mbps, Upload 1.3mbps, latency 119.2ms, browser 4.5ms.
