2.11.605.5 OTA Update Has Started

@Dawn and jcernic I think you need to contact VZW and they should fix the issues you having as it sounds like it is on their end.

[Hide]no snarky iPhone has comment here ;)[/Hide]

how do we describe this issue to them so they know what to fix? I'm having this same issue as well---I gave up using my Thunderbolt until this GB issue was fixed, so I switched back to using my Blackberry. Now that I've reactivated my Thunderbolt it shows a grayed out phone on my account, and I'm getting the same disappearing message when checking for updates.

Im not sure what you guys will need to do. I would go to the store not rely on call since it may invoke getting a new sim card. You can't reactivate the LTE sim if you use a non LTE phone on the account for a while and have to get a new card

I have a new SIM card---I've swapped back and forth between the Thunderbolt and Blackberry--and found out each time I have to order a new SIM (which is stupid!)

My phone still won't update. I went to Verizon and the lady that was "helping" me had no idea what she was talking about.

Every time I try to "check new" for the update the phone searches and then it just clears. Doesn't tell me server unavailable or anything. Just goes away. I showed the Verizon ****** this and she tells me this is normal and the update just isn't available. I don't understand.

Is there a place where I can download the update and install it on my phone like i used to be able to do on my droid 1?

You could flash the RUU but it would wipe your data, or root and flash the rom which would not wipe your data, or just wait a few more days to see if it is pushed to your phone, not everyone has the update yet so that Verizon ****** (no idea what word you had censored) was likely telling you the truth

This is exactly what mine has been doing and it's been pissing me off for a few days now, I've tried battery pulls, and clearing data/cache, I've tried moving apps to the SD card and killing everything except the updater...nothing has worked. And the update is available in my area because my brother did the update right in front of me on his TB and it worked perfectly.

Yeah man same here. My roommate got the update right next to me as well. We are in Baltimore.

I gotta say, it was a cool surprise to wake up here in Phoenix and find a sweet slice of Gingerbread laying on the nightstand.

When I saw the slightly different icons in the notification bar, I started to suspect, then got a big old grin when I saw "Android 2.3.4 staring right at me. Nice! And I didn't have to lift a finger to get it. It just appeared as if by magic.

So far, vastly improved UI lag, snappier app load times and sharper response. Haven't given the battery a good challenge yet to see if power management is any better.

I'm happy with it. It's almost like having a new phone.

I'm still not getting an update on my phone....doing the same thing....check new and then it just stops. No clue why.

Mine has done the same thing all week. No updates at all despite manually checking multiple times a day. Last week I d/l'ed the leaked file and decided to wait a week to try it. Then I decided I should wait for the official update. However after having so many issues with the phone I decided to get bold. I called Verizon and told them that according to the notes in my bill, "manufacturing defects" (i.e. txts sending to the wrong person regardless of software or not) were covered in the first year. They said they'd ship me a new device and it should be updated when I receive it. Score
