This thread reminds me of the Incredible thread...

I remember a new member visiting saying he had opened a new Verizon store and a HTC rep told him when the Incredible was supposed to come out, most people doubted him including myself because he was one of the many members that claimed to know inside info that in the end turned out to be completely true.

So I guess you never know what member might actually know something we don't. Take it with a grain of salt...but still take it.

Android Phones > Samsung Galaxy Nexus General ***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release thread*** (11/21 web only? release)

Three different representatives of Amazon Customer Support have told me that it is not up to them and that the delay is with the supplier. Amazon will not have the product on 17th of November and they expect it on December 02. Apparently it has nothing to do with their 'batches' of releases with pre-orders.

VZW had already penciled in the 17th for this phone.

Yeah, I see your point. I think that, at this point, it's like what happened with the Bionic fiasco, where they said "Coming this Summer". They waited til 2 weeks before summer was over to release it. Did they lie? No. But they hedged their bets because of whatever reason.

Their saying "coming later this year" smacks of the same thing. They're hedging their bets. Why? Who knows. I suppose it's possible that Samsung/Google are having trouble meeting launch production numbers, hence the recent delays in Europe.

Verizon is having difficulties announcing a date for a reason. At this point in time, I think the reason is because they want the RAZR to sell well. But it could be for other reasons.

I meant announced to be released... not actually. What else could a screen protector company base their shipping dates on?

I have a feeling that we're not getting anything on the 17th, only because of the ReHound releasing that same week. Why did they move the launch to Monday? Who knows. We don't have enough info to determine the reason. It could be as simple as they're moving away from Thursdays now, or because something drastic happened.

But look at it this way. Most phone shoppers stroll into the store on a weekend, not during the week. Them releasing the RAZR on Friday gives them a full weekend all for that phone. Releasing the ReHound on a Monday and the Nexus on a Thursday won't result in any advantage for either phone. It's basically the same as releasing it on the same day. Doesn't make sense.

What does make sense is giving the ReHound a full week to sell as much as it can, and then launching the Nexus on the 21. Then, on Black Friday, you've got 3 phones to choose from.

Yep... but we all likely agree that would be a terrible release date. The 21st makes sense, if they are trying to get it out ASAP, but can't do it the week prior.

+1 on this. Their marketing campaign this weekend was huge.

Hopefully it's not for other reasons!

Either Verizon has a bunch of idiots working for them, or fake leakers suck at spelling.

Not only that, but their date lines don't even line up. Look at where the RAZR and middle red bars end on 11/28, and then look at where the "Nexxus" begins on the 28th. They're not the same 11/28...

This cannot be an official Verizon document.

Is it possible that Razr gets two weeks than Rezound releases and they get two weeks than gn releases?

The 21st for crazy obsessed people like us online. The 28th for everyone in store. Including those that bought the RAZR on 11/11 and cannot return it on the 28th b/c it's now past their return date. Makes sense.

Yeah. You know, we don't really know how these tech sites or bloggers actually vet their sources. I thought Kellex would go over the source's credibility with a fine toothed comb before posting something, but who knows. Or it could be that various good sources are telling him different things.

He posted that screenshot of training materials indicating the 17th. Then he posts this drivel that looks like a 9th grader in a computer class could mock up in about 10 minutes. Both leaks have misspellings and appear to be unfinished products.

Who knows what the frak is going on around here.

I've circled my calendar for Friday, November 25. In red. On that day, I'll either be trailing after my wife at Macy's as she picks out clothes while surfing the web on my new SGN, or at least trailing after her knowing when I will be getting my SGN for sure, or we'll be stopping in at AT&T to check out what kind of black Friday deals they have for new customers.

Don't worry, Steven. You'll be putting the 17th up there again before too long.

There's so much BS swirling around us that you might as well post a picture of a cow taking a dump in a field under "release date".

Yeah, I just think the original reason for the 14th for the rezound was because Verizon had the 17th schedule for the GNex, and wanted the rezound out first, but not before the RAZR, so they broke tradition for the Rezound. If it doesn't release till the 21st, or whenever, then it is because of a delay which Verizon wasn't aware of when they finalized the Rezound release date, whenever that was.

That stinks. At least their phones are less expensive. Skyrocket will be $249. That's what I'm planning on paying with VZ using my loyalty discount. So it's a wash.

Man, I hate that Skyrocket name, though. Sounds like a popsicle.

Come on, Verizon. My money is growing mold, you turtle-assed morons.

I'm still disappointed in the fact that Android has no (non-root) way of transferring app data over to a new device.
Thought applications and data were backed up to Google's servers.

Settings->Privacy settings->Back up my data

Back up application data, Wi-Fi passwords, and other settings to Google servers.

Admittedly, I have not ever used this feature. Can anyone else chime in on if it works properly.

Yeah, only about halfway there. That thread was ridiculous. But this thread is being much more actively managed by the Mods thankfully, so I wonder what the comparison would be if that thread was under the same rules.

I've always had a love/hate relationship with threads like this. The excitement factor is great and people getting all hyped up about the latest and greatest can be really cool to see. The relationships that develop as people await their next dream phone or an update can last forever as well. The problem I have usually comes from the counterpoint to this euphoric feeling that everyone gets where people start to become very angry or even depressed when something goes wrong. I hate that part. Not because people get upset, but because it usually leads to people saying or doing things that they wish they hadn't.

I'm asking very nicely that everyone please keep their heads and remember that we are all friends here. There isn't any reason to say something disrespectful towards one of your fellow members. I can say that, as staff, we are impressed with how civil things are in this thread and we encourage you all to keep it up.

On a final note I just want to remind everyone that the biggest hump is something we are over. The phone has been announced and a carrier has been announced. While we have not seen an official release date for Verizon, we do know it is coming.

Quoted in full because I agree completely. It's a crazy ride, and we shouldn't have issues if new people want to join, or get off.

But the hardest part is over. Now it's just a matter of waiting a week or 3 to get it in our hands.

If the Incredible thread was kept even 1/2 as on topic as this it most likely wouldn't have been as epic. Lol.

Thanks for the info. I've never used it, because I don't trust things like that. That's why I use Titanium (after root, of course:D)

I'm about to use titanium for restoring for the first time. Here's hoping I set it all up right. (Not that I can't reset everything like I've done tons of times before)

Ya...I think he was joking
:D Thanks. I thought that after I hit reply.

Right and that's my point.

Google will keep WiFi networks and stuff like but I want Android to be able to restore saved Angry Birds games and other high scores without root. Granted I will root my devices and restore using TiBackup because I can and it works 100% of the time, but I am sure that is something that helps Apple sell iPhones.

Now granted some save files can be big and cloud storage would make it a bit difficult (vs syncing over USB to iTunes), but once a week (or on user initiation) it should backup your data files somewhere to Google's servers or even some storage space in your GMail account.

Features on the upcoming "Nexus Ultimate" to be released by 4Q2015. Quad core, 4.8mhz, holographic retinal projection screen, 160mb RAM, synaptic neural connector with fusion battery pack...

Ah the waiting gives us time to create the next features!

160 megabits of RAM? Wow, that's like 20MB - I hope that's not the ultimate. ;)

Just went hands on with the RAZR at the local VZW shop. I have to say that at that resolution, PenTile is a deal breaker. It's not as bad as the bionic, but I still don't like the visual artifacting that happens. Call it grainy, crosshatching, what ever, I still don't like it. Smooth white does not look smooth white to me. Pixels just don't line up for me. And I can still see it about 16" away.

Looks sorta like this to me:

Code:
* * * * * * *
 * * * * * * *
* * * * * * *
 * * * * * * *
* * * * * * *
 * * * * * * *

As opposed to this which is more "normal" to me.

Code:
* * * * * * *
* * * * * * *
* * * * * * *
* * * * * * *
* * * * * * *
* * * * * * *

I really hope that I can't see this effect on the the SGN. My fear over the screen combined with the lack of a solid release date is pushing me further toward the Rezound (yes with a Z). While I agree the Beats by Dre are a gimmick, I tend to like bassy music and I would probably enjoy the headphones that come with the Rezound.

I still want to hold the Rezound and the SGN and make an informed decision, but I am like Han. I will only wait so long without any news before getting something else. And that for me is the Rezound.
