So about the Android Market...

Hi there! I'm quite confused as to how the Android market works... (And yes, I'm still new to Android, just got my first one several hours ago :D )

So anyway! If I purchased an apps on the market, does that mean that it's only exclusive to that phone, or can I still download the purchased apps if one day I change to new Android phone?

Android apps are designed so that the features (hardware and software) required for the app are documented in the app's manifest file. The Android market will look at that manifest and only list the app for the devices that are able to run it.

That means there's a chance that if you switch phones or tablets, an app that you used to be able to buy or download is no longer visible. It simply means the app wouldn't run correctly on your new hardware.

But the apps you buy are associated with your google account. It will remember permanently what apps you've bought. And you'll be able to re-download those at no cost if you wipe your phone/tablet or get a new phone/tablet, again assuming that the app is still compatible, which for the majority of upgrades, it's not an issue.

Same google account / email will allow you to transfer apps.
