Interesting Tweet From P3 Droid

Here's a copy of the text that he tweeted per the link you provided...

P3Droid said:
I must admit, I was extremly impressed with the Razr, it was the fastest device on the table, hands down. camera from locksreen was about a half second faster than the nexus, and it sped through everything you could hope for. It is a real serious device and means business.

he said it was the fastest device on the table. To me that doesn't include the G Nex in the comparison

Except he directly references the Nexus in his comment stating that "camera from locksreen was about a half second faster than the nexus"... Per BurntOrangeFan, P3 had taken a Nexus with him to a Verizon store to compare. As such I think it does include the G Nex in the comparison... ;)

Sorry trophy, should have posted the entire exchange, but I was driving to work:

P3 goes to the store:

P3Droid: "so I went to store and ask…" « Deck.ly

Skipping ahead a little, he lets the manager of the VZ store see the device:

P3Droid: "Manager asked if he could …" « Deck.ly

And then finally goes into the tweet listed above. You're right that he didn't OVERTLY say that the "Nexus was on the table and the RAZR is faster," but I think a reasonable person would conclude that since he was obviously comparing them, it's fair to say he was speaking in those terms. Look, the GN will be an incredible device and I haven't made up my mind yet. Just thought that people in this forum would be interested in hearing what someone's opinion was that had actually held and tested them both...

Interesting.....burnt i'll be interested to see what you think of both devices once you get them in hand. I'm sure it will be a tough decision...thanks for sharing!

Yeah, I'm worried I may miss the first round of them...Figure most stores will sell out Friday and I can't get one until Saturday at the earliest. I stopped by the VZ store last night to see if I could just buy one and have them hold it until Saturday morning (they couldn't). Asked them if they could sell me one Friday at 10 am when they opened (they couldn't)...My plan is to pay full boat for the RAZR, use my upgrade on the Nexus (upgrade isn't available until 11/17) and sell whichever one I don't want online after that. Will let you know!

So was he using a retail model, or one of those early builds that some review sites had?

Assume you're asking about the Nexus build? Not sure, he doesn't say. But he RAVES about ICS on it and I think he just got it a couple of days ago, so probably a newer build...but I don't know that for a fact. Both are going to be incredible devices and will feel like Christmas to each group that gets a new phone...

Yeah, I was asking about the Nexus. I agree, if you're looking for a top tier VZW phone then you're in luck this month.

actually i saw all of the tweets on twitter. I still think he wasn't technically including the G-Nex but oh well.

speaking of

anyone know how he already has the G NEx?

Hard to say for sure given his history of talking out of both sides of his mouth, but either way he does say it's awesome and he's held them both...

Who knows how he got it...Probably quite a few of them leaked out there to guys like him, jcase, etc...No idea, tbh.

If P3 did mean it was faster than the Nexus...seems like the custom UI's might still have a leg up on hardware acceleration vs. stock Android for phones. Its one reason I actually liked the custom UI over stock Android on phones. Or something was or is up with the Nexus or that specific Nexus. I hope it not that file system garbage they pulled with the GS1.

All that said, in this case it would be a miracle since we speaking about a phone running Blur, MAP. whatever its called these days..

RFS is gone lone time ago from Samsung androids. And ICS has GPU based UI acceleration unlike previous stock androids. TW 4.0 has it too, but I don't think Blur has it.

Frankly I don't take anything from P3 seriously these days. He's been bouncing back and forth several times on Nexus and we have no idea what kind of nexus he has. It's all BS to me until it's out.

Droid Charge had RFS and that was released this past summer. Was that the last phone with RFS file system?

can you really tell the difference between half a second?

are you really going to need that half a second speed increase to get to your camera?

i would rather have an unlocked bootloader and open development thank you.

True, half a second is a meaningless amount of time, but all Android phones that I know of have been a bit slow to open up the camera. I think the fact that the RAZR can keep up with the Nexus opening the camera would be a welcome sign to many here because, if it can open the camera as fast/faster than the Nexus it is quite possible it may perform on par in other areas.
