So I just started playing around with setCPU, and I thought the best way to make sure I don't blow my phone up is to ask for some opinions.

Vitals :

Mik 2.59
Chop Suey 9.2.6
V6 Supercharged

IMO i think that u have too many profiles. i would only have a screen off profile and use the ondemand governor. too many profiles is counterproductive if your goal is to save battery life. but if you are getting good results then i would say keep it. but for me too many profiles with setcpu and my battery life sucked.

Thanks ocn - I guess I'll run this for a few days and if I experience bad batt I'll drop some profiles.

One thing I'm wondering - I listen to music @ my desk at work alot using doubletwist...I've had a couple of problems where in the middle of listening to music, the phone just starts bootlooping. Does that have something to do with my screen off profile being set wrong?

Thanks!

I have been running MikG 2.59 with chopsuey 9.2.7 also with supercharger and 2 other scripts, I have found that the best setting on SetCPU is the following:

max freq - 1036 Set at boot on Conservative Govenor
3 profiles:
Screen Off - 384min/384max
In Call - 384min/652max
Charging - 384min/1036max
Advanced Tab:
Sampling Rate 200000
Up Threshold 95
Ignore Nice load 0
Powersavebias 0

with these settings I have acheived well over 24hrs of heavy use, I run a wrecker business and I am on my phone nonstop, it lasts me 24 hours minimum.

As Ocn stated, your settings are counter productive on your profiles to your scaling settings....change that and you will be amazed with the difference.....after that charge phone to full charge, unplug, plug back in to make sure its full charge then reboot to recovery and reset your battery stats, or install an app that allows you to reset stats without rebooting like "BatteryCalibration". Hope this helps ya

One thing i noticed from running setcpu on my phone is that if i set it to 128 for the min it makes my phone lag and it gives it some lag when u turn the screen on. i have it set to 245min and 1152 max running on demand and sometimes smartass (as smartass governor has a screen off profile which also make my phone lag) and it runs pretty smooth, my battery life varies with phone use, it can be as good as a day and a half and as short as 12-15 hrs.

I would highly recommend no profiles and use the interactiveX governor. I have yet to run a rom without having great battery life and without having significant lag with this governor.

And if you're running AOSP rom's with the latest kernels, the SmartassV2 governor is essentially the same as interactiveX;)

do you set this on boot? I normally underclock myne to 768/245 should I do so with the interactiveX governor?

Whenever changing your settings in SetCPU, have "Set On Boot" unchecked. When you have made your desired changes and are happy w/ them, check "Set On Boot".

I've never 'Set on boot'. I always let the phone settle in first before adjusting my frequencies. But after it settles in, I change the governor to interactiveX and set the frequencies at 1190/245

Wow thanks guys...this board is awesome.

I haven't messed with my phone...crazy busy at work. Battery life seems good so far, but I'm thinking I could kill some profiles and get to better.

One thing - when I play certain apps, especially Angry Birds, my phone tends to heat up quite a bit. Don't know why. Anyone else having that? That's why I set up that temp profile.

Thanks!

More than likely, playing AB will heat up any phone. So there's probably not much you can do for that except maybe not play it for long periods of time.

Hey I was going to try this, you have as sampling rate 200,000....default is 20,000....is that a typo?

Switch to goldenmonkey kernel and u can go to 1190mhz!

not all phones can go up that high without freaking out. it will vary from phone to phone. but that is great that you can go up that high with no issues. just make sure that you have set on boot off until you know that your phone can handle it that high.
