Does android switch off 3G on wifi?

Hi there

I've just got my first Android phone - HTC Sensation XE and love it. However, amongst a couple of other things - I'm slightly disappointed in the rather poor battery life.

I was just wondering - is Android programmed to turn off 3G (and switch to 2G) when connected to wifi? It would seem a common sense thing to do in my opinion and would save battery. If it doesn't, is there any way I can configure it to do so?

Cheers

Alex

All phones dont switch off 3G when connected to WiFi, whether it be a Nokia, an iPhone, a BB or whatever. They do stop using 3G internet, but the 3G radio is still on. The phone will connect to the mobile network which has the highest signal at that given location, even if they arent getting data for it at the moment.

As for bad battery life, that's something I've come to expect out of HTC. :)
