Help What's the deal with Voice Dialer (always requires confirmation)?

I am now running CM 7.1 but had the same problem with stock ROM.

When using Voice Dial it always requires confirmation. Even when I say "Call Joe Schmoe at home" it still shows popup dialog with the list of all numbers for Joe Schmoe where I have to press the one I want. Same if only one choice is available. Even if I say "Open Calendar" - it also requires confirmation.

Is this just the way it is or am I missing something? Is there a better voice dialer that doesn't require data connection like Google Voice Search does? I am on PagePlus and don't have data turned on most of the time.

No, the one that comes with CM 7.1 or stock ROM doesn't need data connection. I am 100% positive. And there is no countdown timer.

Dont know about cm 7 but on stock rom you need data connection, there is no way for the phone to decipher what you are saying with an active data connection.

Also what I mean by 'counter' is on the confirmation screen, in the background you should see a line moving clockwise. On my Inc it does this and if I wait a few seconds it defaults. Though I have noticed voice actions REALLY blow on my Inc. New phone (rezound) completely solved that

This is correct for Google Voice Search. Not so for Voice dialer. These are 2 different apps. Just turn off 3G data and try it.

I don't see a counter on CM7 but it seems it behaves the same way stock app did.
