***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

If you're getting all bent out of shape because of something someone says ON THE INTERNET, you should take a step back. Some people need some thicker skin.

It all boils down to it not being official until Verizon says so. Besides that, who knows who is 'right' or 'wrong'. And who cares. It will get here when it gets here. Just enjoy the ride.

For what its worth, that's my take. Except, for me, it won't be official until it is in my hands. Corporations are just individuals with board meetings.

Just in case anybody is planning on camping out in front of Verizon on release day, this thing should keep you pretty warm.

SnowDroid Beanie

just found a shirt for Han on that site!

This has probably already been covered.

Verizon's flag ship is the "Droid". Whenever advertising is released, it's mostly the Moto Droid with maybe another device as a side line. The Galaxy Nexus is to be released with no branding and almost no Verizon bloatware.

The Galaxy Nexus has no Verizon connection except that they are going to sell it.
The phone means nothing to them and neither does ICS, which does nothing for them, except to allow the disabling their software.

I think we'll see a roll out by Verizon that says " Oh, here's another Android phone ". Just another phone.

It's a big deal to Samsung and to Google, but not to Verizon

Its your honest and forthright candor that does not warrant pure skepticism. This gal put a lot on the line if she is wrong, not you. You'll be the one who suffers more than us here if it turns out to be a load of BS... as I imagine you wont be sleeping that night afterwards.

Thanks, I really appreciate your kind words, You guys should have seen my face when I saw I had a voice mail from the rep.....my wife's been making fun of me all night for being such a NERD!!!!!! But, she wouldn't have me any other way!!!!!!! LOL

Here's to hoping my rep wasn't full of it!!!!!!

continued off topic sitcom discussion:
Second best sitcom ever... by a very close margin. Fawlty Towers is tops. And yes, the George character is pure comedy genius. Again though, a very close second to Basil Fawlty. ;)

never saw that one...will have to check it out...when and what network was it aired on??

Oh nice, If you feel like driving all this way I can give you the store number/loc and the guys name I spoke to to hold one for you. But you might want to try somewhere closer like Columbia.

but if they don't then hey, Gnex party in chucktown! lol

oh there are plenty of corporate stores between Clemson and Charleston, i just can't get any of them to confirm a release date. :p

I don't get why people think this isn't a big deal for Verizon. Why wouldn't it be? They're the exclusive carrier for what's being called "the best smartphone on the market" by multiple reviewers. Plus, they have a dedicated site for it (vzw.com/galaxynexus just brings you to the signup page now but it will eventually be a big thing I think).

The training materials and verizon exclusivity show otherwise.

Can someone give me an update on what all the negativity is about tonight? Last I saw this afternoon people were excited about seeing the Verizon Nexus in a box.

I got my case and screen protector delivered today so I was all excited for the end of this week...is that off now?

i forgot what tempered that excitement, then a bunch of us called local stores and many have heard the 8th or 9th....then BT tweeted the 15th and everyone got sad again, then someone noticed that he was talking about a RESELLER and i think now we're all just confused...

the same as the last few months...

Ive been faithfully lurking this thread and I must say, I really really hope it gets here by the end of this week. My Eris refuses to charge unless i hold it "just the right way". I got the bionic when it launched, returned it within a day. It just was not a good phone. When i spend 200+ for a phone it better be exactly what i want.

TLDR:
My eris barely works i need a GNex as much as all of you. Thank you for keeping me company over the last few months as no one else caters to my love for phones (especially this one) like you guys.

BritishTurbo tweeted that he heard the 15th being the day for release. So far, I think it was only him and I think PydePypper have said as such so far (well he said it wouldn't ship no earlier than the 12th). Still some trickling sources it will come this Thursday or Friday. But as always, nothing is definitive till Verizon officially announces a date.

On another note. Got the TPU case in the mail today. The case itself is a smidge bigger than my naked Bionic but surprisingly not bulky. I can't wait to get the phone that goes with it. :(

If it wasn't for you guys talking about the calling your local store ahead of time to have them put your name on the list I wouldn't have done so. I just called and asked about them at my local store and they told me they think it should be there the 8th. The guy told me he would call me once they got the phone in. If the guy is telling to truth I'll finally replace my last resort flip phone :D

Off topic sitcom discussion:
It was John Cleese's project after Monty Python quit. It was on BBC. Classic. Only aired for two seasons. Think of your traditional British comedy- smart, sophisticated, mildly dry. Now mix in John Cleese's Monty Python influences and you've got a winner.

You've kept us company as well, albeit stealthily, so thank you ;) and welcome to AF

Then why worry about getting an exclusive?
