Hi, I don't know why but my screen doesn't turn on when I receive a text message, and I can't seem to find any sort of setting to enable that. I know for a fact that my friend's at&t s2 does turn the screen on when a text is received. This really helps if I have both the vibrate and ringtones off when I am in a class/meeting, otherwise the only way I can tell a text is received is by the little blinking led. Thanks.

This, basically.
Handcent, Chomp, Go SMS, and SMS Popup will all do this. It SUCKS that it's not a stock feature, but it's an easy fix.

If you wanna use the stock messanger and still want the screen to go on when you recieve texts use sms pop up. you can set it to do the same push notifications as an iphone or one that maches the android OS.

I actually always liked the way the screen does not go on by itself when receiving texts though. I find it provides more privacy.
