As a musician who went on to be a "soft" IP attorney (soft IP is copyright and trademark, hard IP is patent), let me give you some advice that I wish someone gave me in college:

To be an attorney, you have to go to law school and take a state's bar exam. To prepare patents, you must take the patent bar exam and be admitted to the patent bar. To take the patent bar exam, you have to have a technical background in certain areas, and a BS in computer science satisfies that requirement. The number of people with technical backgrounds who go on to law school is pretty low, as college pre-law offices generally encourage majors like poli sci and philosophy, so patent attorneys are extremely marketable with respect to both job opportunities and salaries. And with the direction we're moving with technology innovations and patent lawsuits, there will be tons of work for software patent attorneys.

Not sure if you have any interest at all in law school as it is time-consuming and costly, and I don't mean to preach, but just wanted to throw my thoughts out there.

Comp Science is better. Trust me. A major in the STEM field will most likely land you a job, whereas something in the arts usually won't. Even better is if you Double Major in Comp. Science and Mathematics. Alot of the courses overlap with each other, and those extra Math Courses in the Math Major will allow you to be really efficient in computer science. As for careers, it's not only Programming. You can go into software engineering, certain engineering jobs that don't require ABET Certification, Almost any type of Analyst position, as well as other paths. Technology and Science is the future. If you love music, don't turn it into a job. Trust me, I've been down that path. Turning something you love into work is the Ultimate Sin. I love cars, but I wouldn't want to work on other people's cars everyday for the rest of my life.

Everyone around me is getting iPhone 4S's and laughing at me for this phone, saying it obviously isn't a good phone since they keep finding problems with it. I am an Android guy from day 1, having the OG Droid, Droid 2, Droid X, Droid Incredible, Droid Thunderbolt, and now I will have the Galaxy Nexus. I will pay full retail too.

I really can't wait to show off my Galaxy Nexus to them. They all swear its not as good as other phones, but a few of them secretely await the launch too! My buddy Josh texts me every night asking me if my rep as any new info. His boyfriend made him get the iPhone against his will. Laaame.

FWIW, my rep texted me earlier tonight and said "looks like thu, get here by 830?"

I feel like Verizon comes up with these dates, tells their reps/employees, so the employees spread the word, then Verizon yanks the leash at the last second.

Sorry for the long winded post...I ate way too much way too late now I'm just up pressing F5 and watching basketball games.

PS anyone else notice AT&T's version slide through the FCC? I'll be damned if the big blue empire gets this thing before big red!
