***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Whelp. I'm currently on a jury. We resume deliberations tomorrow morning at 9am. There's a Verizon corporate store a few blocks away which opens at 11. They claim to have "about 20" Nexuses in stock. I'm ready to run in tomorrow with my $30 loyalty discount + $50 LivingSocial deal and walk out with my new favorite thing. Please wish me luck with there being anything left to buy by the time I get out of the courthouse!

P.S. The email VZ employees got this afternoon effected a night-and-day change in their demeanor. They were bubbly talking to me about the Nexus, and rolled their eyes and commiserated when I asked about the past week's "gag order." The manager even handed me her live Nexus to play with (spoiler: it's gorgeous with a minor caveat or two :)). The horrible tension is gone. Feels good, man.

Currently, if you go here (Amazon Wireless "product comparison" link) you can see some prices for the Galaxy Nexus based on what purchasing scenario you are in. Not sure if this will be *final* as the actual product page (here) still just says "unavailable".

Add line to family account = $249.99
New family account = $199.90
New individual account = N/A
Replacement = $739.99
Upgrade on family account = $249.99
Upgrade on individual account = $249.99
Add line to individual account = N/A

I have a $50 discount on my account, so I am leaning towards going to a corporate store in the morning to get mine for $250.

But I'm also strongly considering upgrading with the LetsTalk deal for $174.99 (and just pretending that Verizon didn't release the phone until I get mine ) *LetsTalk deal*

I'll decide before I go to sleep tonight...

What are the disadvantages of getting the LetsTalk deal vs getting it from a corporate store? I've been debating springing for that deal, but I'm sure stuff like customer service and warranty are nonexistent? Anyone have some solid info on this?

OT Insurance Claim

I bought my sons Droid 2 from Wirefly.com and bought insurance for his phone through them honored by mobiledeviceprotection.com. He dropped it a couple of days ago cracking the screen. I filed a claim today. Good new/bad news. Good news is ZERO deductible unlike Verizon Wireless $100 deductible BUT they don't send you a replacement and you send in your phone. They REPAIR your phone and send it back to you. Meaning that you will be without a phone the whole time it gets repaired. :( Well, good thing I have an operational Dinc that he can use while his Droid 2 is repaired.

Just want to say a quick thank you to all of you for making this one hell of a ride. From the wonderful mods to the silly trolls and everyone in between it has been an absolute honor and a pleasure to have been a part of this historic thread. A special thanks to Steven who started it all. We finally made it and the end is here, or better yet, the beginning. Good luck to all tomorrow and I am more than certain I will be seeing you soon. :)

This is getting really hard to keep up with with everyone posting to one thread.

Anyway, the corporate store has that "I have it right now" to it. Also, a loyalty discount for the next 2 years will be given to you. And if you have that $100 discount, then that will be applied. I'm looking @ $150 charge to my account (+tax) for going to a verizon store.

Hey all!

Just wanted to write and say I am officially off the roller coaster!!! I picked up my Nexus tonight at a reseller. Just goes to show you that if you make friends with those people they will hook you up and I couldn't have been happier to give them the business then the snide VZW employees by me.

The phone is awesome. Love the size and weight, even with the extended battery on. The only gripe I have so far is the TPU case isn't allowing for me to hit the volume rocker down. I am still trying to figure it out so we will see.

So fear not people, tomorrow is the day. Good luck to you all!!!

ARRG!
I heard the Gnex was going to be released tomorrow...YAY!! So I went to vzw corporate store and had them check my acct for $100 promo. There was a note from CSR stating that I was eligible, though they had not heard of it. They tried to process another 4G phone through as an upgrade to see what would happen. They're computer said I wasn't "tagged", meaning not eligible for that upgrade, despite note from CSR. The manager read from the screen and it said something to the effect of " CSR shall not overwrite promotions and add to account that aren't automatically eligible". I think the CSR I had talked to that said I was eligible for promo made a mistake....a $100 mistake. I very nicely went back and forth with manager and salesman, but in the end there was no way I was getting the promo. Thought you all should be given a heads up for when you go to order and discount is not available. Its bittersweet, happy yet pissed. BTW: all batteries are 1/2 off till Dec 31st. Gnex extended battery is $25. I don't know if any of this has been mentioned, just got home.
Wow, this is great to know, thanks! I might end up being in this same situation, hope the manager at my store is a little more lenient! Definitely planning on buying the extended battery, saving $25 will be great!

Um..your wrong. Letstalk.com, a very legit site, is selling them for 229.99 for upgrades. PLUS, they are doing a special $75 off any Verizon phone. So yeah, cheap as hell :)

Agree that letstalk.com are totally legit. Spoke to them, and they were very helpful, but......
- they have a limited range of account management options
- they can't pull an update forward, where VZW CSRs have the option to apply the update if its within 30 days of its due date
- they can't transfer a ripe upgrade from another line to the line you want to use it on, where VZW will.

They have great pricing on the GNex IF you have a ripe upgrade and don't need anything other than a plain vanilla purchase.

Hope this helps someone save a few bones.

If I buy from LetsTalk, do I have to keep the phone on the line that upgraded? Many of these third party people require that you not change phones (IIRC), and I am using another line's upgrade. So...can I still use LetsTalk?

-Nkk
yup, i just called them three separate times. Because it's a smartphone the line you use to upgrade would have to have the data package and you cannot change the phone to another line for 6 months. So letstalk, as far i know, if not an option for us poor folks :(
