***Official "I just ordered my G-Nex-type thread***

Funny story about that, when I ordered my Nexus at 1am this morning I had this conversation with an online rep:

John: alright, is there any offer for free overnight shipping currently?
Destiny: Yes. You will select the standard 2 day shipping and your order will be upgraded to free overnight delivery.
Destiny: You will see your phone on Friday by 3pm.
John: do i need a promo code?
Destiny: No, it's done for you automatically.
John: ok let me check
Destiny: Thank you.
John: it doesnt seem like it is, i get to the submit order on the review order screen and nothing changed
Destiny: It's not going to change on the order itself. The warehouse automatically changes the shipping to overnight delivery.
John: so although it says 2 day shipping it is going to be overnight?
Destiny: That is correct.
John: ok, i've ordered phones online before and there's always been a code but i'll take your word for you
Destiny: I appreciate that. I guarantee you will have the phone on Friday.
Destiny: From the review page, you will click Submit and you'll be all set!

Needless to say when I got my tracking number it was for 2 day shipping with an estimated arrival of Monday. I called customer service and they told me I was basically SOL since it was past 4pm. I wrote an email explaining how an employee guaranteed I would have my phone by 3pm Friday when I won't. Maybe I'll get a credit or something?

I knew I shouldn't have trusted her, I would have gladly paid the $12.

Copied from Watering Hole Thread:

I got my phone at Best Buy this morning. I was there about an hour after they opened and mine was the 4th Nexus they had sold. They got calls about it while I was waiting too and another person came in for one after me. They only had 11 so I'm glad I didn't wait any later!

The only sucky part was that they could not honor my NE2 (even though another salesperson a few weeks ago had said that they could). So I had to pay the full upgrade price of $300. At least I have my new phone in hand now and didn't have to wait for it to be shipped. On the plus side, although VZW wouldn't restore my credit, they did give me one free month of service - which is a whopping $80 in savings.

Oh, and for anyone who might wonder why I didn't just go to a corporate store - I didn't get some money I was expecting this month so I had to finance it on my Best Buy card - 18 months same as cash.

Just ordered mine from Verizon online, and used my last NE2 discount (I only had the $30 one). I tried ordering last night but the site crashed from everyone else trying to get one. I stuck with the free 2nd day shipping since I won't really have time to get it all set up until Saturday anyway, so no reason to pay extra for overnight.

One thing for any current VZW customers grandfathered into unlimited data: yesterday, when I tried to order online there was a pop-up telling me my current text & data plans weren't "compatible with this device", and when I tried to continue without changing from unlimited, it wouldn't let me, and then the site crashed. This morning when the site was back up, it also allowed me to continue without changing any of my plan options (text or data) but it did still try to get me to by having that same pop-up telling me I would need to change them. So if you see it, just leave your data plan on the unlimited and continue on.

Can't wait to get it all set up, I've been sticking with my OG Droid up til now and I'm glad I get to still use a Google experience phone.

Sorry bud, but I hope you're not expecting a Saturday delivery.... FedEx does not deliver on Saturdays (except their Ground Residential Delivery service). 2-day is business days, you'll see your phone on Monday.

Ordered at 6:30 PM PST on the phone, got a phenomenal deal and my upgrade was moved up two weeks... only thing is no order confirmation email. I read that shipping emails are coming late, but did anyone get order confirmation numbers in addition to that?

The bad thing is I can't even check on my order online because I also need a location number from a confirmation email.

I went by HH Gregg after work to to see if they had them in stock. They did! I hadn't realized they were resellers as opposed to a corporate Verizon location. I've never bought a phone from a reseller before and was worried they'd screw up my unlimited data plan - especially going to 4G, so I made for the door.

An HH Gregg employee I had talked to when looking at phones said they'd take $100 off any phone for me. That got my attention.

I left the store and checked out BJs (who has a corporate kiosk with really helpful employees). They couldn't match the price. I didn't bother going to the stand-alone Verizon store in between BJs and HH Gregg because they just suck.

So I headed back to HH Gregg and, sure enough, they took $100 off, plus another $50 for my upgrade.

So I walked out with a Galaxy Nexus on release day for $160.11 ($149.99 + tax) out the door.

The only downside is they didn't have ANY accessories, so I still have the protective film that comes on the screen to make sure it stays pristine.
