UPDATE: Galaxy nexus now $149 ($199 upgrades!!)

Ok.

Quick update.

I called 3 Bestbuys and 2 said they don't price match Amazon.com. But the 3rd was a charm and the wireless manager said that they ABSOLUTELY price match amazon on wireless phones. She said this as if it was corporate policy.

Went down and picked up my Nexus fro $150 right from the local Bestbuy....

No waiting for Amazon.

I also bought something for $30 where they will buy back your phone in 18 months for $160.00 and give it to you in a store credit format. So when the new nexus comes out then instead of having to dump the old phone on Ebay you just drop it off with them and do it all over again.......The war between Amazon and Bestbuy is just beginning.

Are you a new Verizon customer? I mean, the $149 price is for new customers but I'm wondering if you duped BB. ;)

I also went into a best buy today to get them to price match but that didn't work, they only had one left and the guy was a jerk. He did say, though that they're selling faster than they can stock them, but that they only make $110 on the phone so at $150 they're losing $40, then I asked how much they make on the contract sale and he conveniently stopped talking.

Anyways, I'm jumping the gun a bit, my T-Mo Nexus 1 contract isn't up until Jan 9th so I took this as a silver-lining to wait a few weeks and not pay on two contracts this month.

So my question is can I order this on Amazon now but not activate it until Jan 9th, I went through the order process here and it looks like it trys to activate me right away -- is that right? or no?

If I order from Amazon, does that mean I still get to have my Verizon return policy that is in place til January 15th?

Also I heard that costco does a 90 return policy on electronics...does that include phones? So if I keep it for 90 days and I dont like it, I can return it and get a full refund no questions asked?

Amazon has a note on their site that quotes a 30 day return window, and that you may run into an ETF with Verizon if it's outside of their 14-day activation window.

Based on previous forum discussions, at Costco you'll get a full refund, but if it's past Verizon's 14 day window, you'll have burned any upgrade you may have used.

I'm guessing the upgrade pricing disclaimer is true, too, at Amazon, and the ETF thing would also apply to Costco purchases if you tried to terminate the contract.

Wow, was just checking Amazon tonight and it says "Back-ordered, Usually ships 1-2 months".

Wait, 1-2 months? Dam!! Has anyone ordered in the last few days and gotten a closer shipment confirmation?

I heard about that from someone else and saw it at Amazon. I've been thinking about getting it from Amazon because they don't charge tax for me (California).

What do you think, should we go with Amazon and risk not getting the phone until January or February? I hope it's just a guess on their part and that they will get a huge supply of them by the end of this month or even week!

As an SDSU alum i'd like to say go for it :) Also, SDSU has a student discount w/ VZW though i'm sure you already knew that.

Wow. Forget Amazon. Just dealt with a CSR who was amazing, helped me bump my NE2 up to today. I was thinking I was going to pay around $250 + tax, and was shocked when she told me $86 which included the $62 CA Sales tax.

I think I may get that Transformer Prime after all.

Are you saying you got the phone for 20 bucks before tax? If so than thats a great deal. You might wanna double check though. Thats the first time I have heard someone getting it for 20 bucks.

Well, this fell through. I wrote down everything they told me (so I know what my quote was), and when I called back to inquire why the phone wasn't shipped, they quoted me $347 for the phone. I tried to get them to listen to the phone call, but they wouldn't do it. Of course the CSR that helped me didn't make any notes in the system.

So I canceled it. I was really excited and no I'm more disappointed than if they had just told me I had to wait for my NE2 on the 29th. Anyway, I hope to order this on the 29th from Amazon, but only if I can get it soon. Otherwise I'll go to Costco and pay $50 less than Verizon. Definitely not buying from official VZW stores after this fiasco.
