Root Help rooting/ installing custom recovery and rom

Are at home screen or Google login if at home screen see if your running 1.6. under settings, about phone. if you are enable USB debugging and run this.View attachment 26907
you can try on 1.5
then you have root.
Then download rom manager via wifi and select first option to flash recovery(rom manager is for 1.6 only).
Make a nand backup then start flashing roms

If you need to update look here and skip step 1 ( theunlockr.com/2009/07/05/how-to-unroot-your-t-mobile-g1/ ) then borrow a friends sim card to log back in.

I was at the NO SIM screen and couldn't do anything... But my friend had an old sim card that I used to get into adb and access wifi so that I could register it... Now I have a custom recovery installed and such and I think I'll be good although I still need to root... I just shell rooted to install the custom recovery...
