Root want to root GF's phone (RAZR) - - coming from HTC EVO

OK so I watched that video on how to root the RAZR in the sub forum. I have been flashing roms with my evo forever. Girlfriend does a lot of different things than me on her phone (a lot of work related stuff and Facebook) - - is there anything i should know that's different than the EVO root process? i don't want her screaming at me because something is missing or not functioning the same. On the EVO you can boot into 'recovery' and flash roms. is this the same process for the RAZR?

sorry i'll keep reading up but just wondering. Also, is there a ROM that is not so different than Stock that anyone would recommend?

ROMs are still very young, you may just want to wait a while to avoid the screaming.

I agree. If her phone is a WORK phone I'd suggest just leaving it alone until the ROMs get closer to 100% ready, unless there is specific functionality that she is needing that can only be gained by rooting the device. Off the top of my head, I can't think of what that might be - and since you don't already have a ROM in mind, you're just wanting to root for roots sake, in which case you're just setting yourself for some screaming.

Yeah, removing bloatware is nice, but that takes you off the Moto upgrade path, so when ICS rolls out she won't get it - and then there's just more screaming.

If you feel you absolutely must root, there is a guide on the top of the "all things root" page that tells you all you need to know, my biggest reason for rooting was to run an ad killer and titanium backup

I'd say your best bet is to look at a DEV site move focused on the device like Portal - DroidRzr.com or even droid HIVE - Articles - droidHIVE

There are probably more decent ICS ROMs out for the RAZR than there are Gingerbread ones.
