What music player do you guys use with AOKP roms like D4 and Hydrogen? I really miss the stock music player. Any players you would recommend (that shows up control on the lock screen too)?

I use the Google Music app. It shows up in the lock screen. I'm sure you can get the apk on XDA somewhere regardless of your location. And it plays offline music (ie. the stuff on your sd card) as well as having the benefit of accessing your google music in the cloud if you needed to.

Just flashed D4 rom tonight. Happy enough so far but having problem with Titanuim backup restore. I'm using Pro version and restoring missing apps + data after flasing. The batch restore is stuck on a particular app, but when I go back and try to remove it from the batch install and try again it tells me there is already a an opertion is already in progress??

Can't get the rest of my apps back.

EDIT: It's cool, used force closed it manage apps - that did the trick.

I'm missing the task manager app since changing, this is my first ICS rom and I'm a bit confused. I know holding down the home button does somthing but I never used this before, can your clear the RAM by closing app like in task manager?

Also, I couldn't find where to allow unknown sourced for downloading apps in the ROM, is this set be default or where is it now?

I had a couple "stick" too. I think it may be related to the altered mount point for /sdcard, but both restored fine manually afterwards.

I know holding down the home button does somthing

It brings up the "Recently used apps" list.

You can "stop" apps from Menu/Manage apps and selecting the app you want on the Running tab. So far I haven't found a cleaner way.

I couldn't find where to allow unknown sourced for downloading apps in the ROM, is this set be default or where is it now?

It's well-hidden in System settings/Security/Unknown sources.

Looks like Slug covered most of it! AOKP roms like D4 and Hydrogen don't have a native Task Manager. If you use a sammy-based rom like AndyX or Wanamlite, holding the Home button shows recently used apps as well as a Task Manager button, where you can clear ram etc. Personally I wouldn't recommend clearing ram anyway, so it's not something I miss.

Firstly, thanks to all who replied to my previous post. I been using the D4 Rom for a day now and here is a list of my likes and dislikes:

Likes:

I can now still pick up my wi-fi when standing outside and round the corner from my front door (where I smoke a lot) instead of having to stand right at the door - big plus and a deal breaker for me.

General look and feel of the ROM

The battery mod and patch ability.

Much, much fast power off and boot up.

Access to settings from the notification drawer.

Dislikes/issues (and I realise these may be entirely ICS related rather than the ROM):

Music player sometimes freezes - have to remove battery to stop it.

No 'external SD' folder anymore - now when I'm in a file manager app I have to press 'mnt' and look for a folder called 'emmc'. WTF!?

No task manager. (Can I download an app?)

Can't edit or create folders in the app drawer!!! This is a major issue for me as I kept all my *ahem* adult games discreetly in a folder buried amongst my many apps. My little girl also uses my phone to play games and now she will be able to see the not-so-discreet widgets for these games. Any suggestion on how to resolve this would be very welcome. I don't suppose anyone has created a way of locking access to the app drawer yet as an alternative?

Maximum of 16 apps allowed in a folder - previously there was no limit. I now have to create more than one folder for all my games.

The ability to adjust the sensisitivity of the vibrate on touch feedback seems to be gone. I used to have it quite low so now feels like I'm getting an electric shock everytime I press the back soft key! Anyone found where this is on ICS?

As I said, I'm really enjoying the ROM and I intend to stick with it for now but any suggestions or advice on my issues would be much appreciated.

Thanks for that review mate, I have also been enjoying the ROM, it is very smooth and as of yet, I haven't had an Fcs.

As for the hiding of your games there is an app I have called "perfect app locker" it's a good app, which you can put other apps inside and password them , you can also hide the icon so that nobody will know they exist.

hope this helps

I had to get rid of the 8.0 version as it wasn't letting me use my internal sd card. I could see my stuff, but it wouldnt let me use it. Any ideas please?

I'm on v7.0 and have the same problem :(

Edit: Apparently its to do with Siyah 3.1. There's an update to version 3.1.2 which fixes this - only problem is as I cant access the internal SD card, I cant save the kernel :p

Can I install an earlier version of the ROM without doing a full wipe?

Remember, you're not in Samsungland any longer. The mount points are different with AOSP-based ROMS, and reflect the actual hardware - the internal storage and external SD card are two separate volumes, so making one appear as a sub-folder of the other was artificial.

No task manager. (Can I download an app?)

Yup.

Can't edit or create folders in the app drawer!!!

Again, this was a Samsung/TouchWiz feature. Try an alternate launcher.

The ability to adjust the sensisitivity of the vibrate on touch feedback seems to be gone.

System settings/Advanced/Screen

Can I install an earlier version of the ROM without doing a full wipe?

Provided it's the same ROM, then wiping the cache and dalvik-cache before flashing should be adequate. Your installed apps and custom settings should be retained.
