Help Battery charges but indicator level does not change?

The story so far....Owned the handset since 04.04.12

Put my phone of charge on Sunday just gone morning before heading out to the pub for the avo and clocked that battery was 30%.
Went and took phone off charger after 90 mins and battery indicator still says 30%, ran phone all afternoon & evening and most of Monday with phone still showing 30% (lots of usage). Then about 5pm Monday battery level started dipping so I put phone on charge @ 17% around 22:30hrs and took off charge this morning about 07:30hrs (so around 9 hours charge time) and phone still showing 17% battery?

Whats going on?

I do a quick search and am then presented with the news that there is a file potentially in the wrong place? Unrelated but but not good news?

Any info/help would be greatly appreciated.

I have 3 chargers in total, 2 have been used in the above scenario so am confident its not a charger or cable issue.

If your X becomes very warm while charging maybe the tip of studentu05 in his thread helps ...

Many thanks for the reply

I installed the COOL TOOL and monitored my CPU usage over about an hour using various different programs and apps.
System sits idle @ 102Mhz, under load it would spike right up to 1.5Mhz. But then drop right back down again?
Battery has not been charged again today, I have hammered the phone and yet my battery level indicator still shows 17%?

WHAT THE DUCE?

try running it flat and giving it a full reboot (maybe a reboot into safe mode could help (hold down down volume button on reboot I believe to do this)). If that fails call htc.

Weird mine IS Exactly the same had the phone since Thursday the 19th and mine will not charge correctly i have the new & two other HTC chargers and it charges only a couple of percent over night :mad:

if anything but today i tried a trick put it through pc on charge only and WHoop! 100% charged! :thinking:

Must be a software glitch i reckon!

just biding my time as the response from three uk re the latest ota fix......."HTC One X - we're waiting on another update than 1.28 to fix battery issues amongst other things. Will be available in May.

I had a similar issue charging through my office PC. I wasn't using the HTC cable as that was at home, I was using a cheap generic one. The next day when I used my Kindle cable to charge it it charged very quickly, so I think the phone probably uses more juice than a cheap cable can supply.

ive used both HTC & Nokia cables in both the charges all did not fully charge yet when plugged into the pc IT DOES charge :S

I had the same issue with my battery level not changing and staying at the same level even after charging. What seemed to fix it for me was to Turn Off fast boot in Settings/Power and then switch phone off and on again.

for those on Orange UK, complain about it via 150 and they'll send a replacement as its under 14 days. Had a friend who had exactly the same, wont go above something like 72%, so she called and complained and they sent a courier next day.

yeah I have the exact same problem in that the phone is not charging. Heck even while its on charge overnight and not powered on with no sim in it for 12 hours it still said 6 percent battery after 12 hour charge.

I did a hard reset and now it says 72 percent but after 4 hours of charge its still on 72 percent so something is definitely NOT right.....

Oh and by the way this is my THIRD HTC one X in two weeks and they've all had the same problem!!!
Not the charger or cable either as i've now got 6 different genuine HTC chargers and the problem is the same regardless if you use PC usb or mains wall socket charger.

NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED WITH htc one X !!!!!!!!!!!! :mad:

EddieWawa.....funny you should say 72 percent!!!
Mine is now on 72 percent after a hard factory reset....but still wont go above that.

I'm now trying it with fast boot OFF.....will update tomorrow!

Fast Boot should always be set to OFF, then you should reboot your phone. FastBoot set to ON is known to be causing many different issues.

oh man, so that magic value isnt a random occurrence huh? well mines been ok so far (fingers crossed).

if it doesnt budge, still recommend you get it swapped out asap.

yeah but i'm on my 3rd HTC One X in about 10 days!!! pain the 455 because I transfer all my stuff onto it everytime and personalize it and then it goes wrong!
With the current one I'm not putting any numbers or data on it until i'm sure it holds charge and works properly! I lost about 100 photos when returning the first one as it wouldnt even power on with the power cable connected.... it wouldnt even charge with the cable connected...nevermind powering on!

Well a day later and after approx 19 hours charge I have a HTC One X with 96 percent battery full.
so looks like the fast boot off might have worked but if it means i have to charge it for 24 hours to use it for 24 hours (as the battery doesnt last THAT long..) then it might as well be a 20 year old phone....they werent much better on battery life.

FYI: to do hard reset:
power phone off.
press and HOLD down both power and volume down button until you get a screen with all your diagnostics. then use up or down volume to scroll up and down to factory reset and press power button to sellect. The ERASES EVERYTHING! beware.
