so for some reason my lg connect likes switching to 3g more than my esteem did and idk why!? i read about the 3g boost and read that it didnt work on the connect. my speeds are around 160kbps on evdo so has anyone tried the 3g boost?

im going to switch back to my esteem for a bit and see if its the connect or metros service

no their actually going to uncap 3g. the 3g speeds ive seen others have are almost 1mbps on metro and thats still a lil less than what i had back in the day on my flashed touch pro and htc diamond. i mean the whole friggin network was at my disposal nobody else was running 3g on metro back then and their feature phones put like no load on towers. goood days

less than 1mbps and even less when there was no traffic is pretty bad.

but yeah reading an article it seems metro is pulling back on abandoning 3g in order to accommodate those who cant afford to move up to the incoming "top grade" 4G smartphones for metro. not a good idea i would say as it will hamper their development of their 4G network in that they would have to shut certain things off to make room. there are a lot of people who would move over to metro and pay the $70 and buy these "top grade" phones if they were getting a 4G service that was between 12 and 15mbps or at least a more consistent 4G data service. thats still way under verizon and ATT(and on par with tmobile) but so is the cost for service. metro should concentrate on lengthening their lead on other budget services and getting all low budget customers to go to them and not knock heads with verizon and ATT or try to break into the top 4. unless you want to pay $100 a month for unlimited service because thats where we'll be headed.

this is just my guess, but the majority of people who cant afford to move up to the "high end" smartphones just want to be able to make phones calls and text and dont care about much else beyond that. if they want to check email and do a little surfing they'll probably be content with wifi at home or at work. this is why i believe sacrificing 4G development to service EVDO is not a good idea.

I tried the 3G boost on the connect using qpst...everytime I run a speed test on EVDO it would jump to up to 800kbs for a second then jump all the way down and stabilize a at 160-180kbs...so yea metro somehow throttled it. The 3G boost on my sisters admire and my mothers indulge still works for them they get up to 1mb over 3G but the same method wont work for the connect.
