Geniatech Enjoy TV

I've been playing my files from SDCard or SDCard in an adapter through USB port.
But I did also plug in a 2.5" HDD to test also so I don't think the source is an issue.

I was on 20120111 and now went back to 20111102 to see if there is a difference.
I am still getting a slight sync problem.

My player is on 720P.
The delay is about 160ms - 200ms.
It doesn't sound like much, but it is noticeable.

I changed the display to 480P and 576P and there is less delay. I'll check it again to get how much of a delay but may only be 80ms - 120ms now.

I used the audiovideo test sync file from this site. (I hope it's okay to post a link)

Audio Video Sync, Alignment & Latency Test

I'm hoping to get it to where it's almost not noticeable. We shouldn't have to deal with sync issues anymore these days.

I may be interested to know of any Android tablets that have HDMI out, have a USB port, SD Card Slot, WiFi and can play and output at least 720P perfectly.

I have been trying for ABC Iveiw without success.

We will have to wait until they bring out the Android version. They have a PC and Ipod version.

I am running the ICS rom.

Yep agreed. An Android iView app would be great. I think the problem with flash is that we need hardware acceleration for iView to work without freezing and this was supposed to be available on Flash 10.2 in the gingerbread rom. However, iView seems to need a later version of Flash.

Re the people with sound sync problems I don't have any issues with that. I play all my movies from a usb drive (usually avc in mkv or mp4 container). Even Crackle and U-tube streaming and playing from a local samba server has no sound sync problems either.

What I would really like is for the TV tuner dongle to be supported on ICS so I can have an all-in-one media centre.

I have an iMiTO AM801 8" tablet (aka Blitz RS8) that I am happy with.

It come with Gingerbread loaded.

It has:

  • a mini HDMI output, 1080p output (not tried as I do not have a HDMI adaptor)
  • USB port (micro)
  • SDcard slot (micro)
  • WiFi
It does not have GPS though

The screen is good and clear and there is no lipsync problems that I can see. I use Crackle, YouTube and Veetle without problems.

The forum support is not as good as for our TV Box but is developing

I have rooted Gingerbread with UnlockRoot PC application and there is a GingerBreak app available to also root the unit.

I have also updated it to ICS, a simple method and have also rooted the ICS on it.

The downside of the ICS update is that I have difficulty with the USB. It simply does not show up under Computer in my Windows 7. Devices shows it and it is recognised from the Android system recovery.

ICS is faster than Gingerbread.

The ROM firmware is not as "open" as other RK2918 firmware appears to be, but it is being worked on.

hello i have aquestion which one is better atv 310nano or atv1000.? and whats the main differnence between the two? is it just the remote? which one has the google market on it.and can both be udgraded to ICS? if yes is it slow or good?

I personally own an ATV 1000 and for me is a good equipment wich showed a good video and audio performance with standard gingerbread, but if you want to use it more for Internet browsing you can update to 4.0 ICS.

Is a good equipment with nice remote control and good video output on all resolutions.

Quick question,

With these units, when you're in the upgrade menu (system recovery utility), what happens when you select menu item

3. wipe data/factory reset

and

4. wipe cache partition

I assume it will just bring it back to factory state and clear cache without destroying installed apps etc, but before I do this, want to make sure it isn't going to render the box unbootable.

BTW: On upgrading the SPI, now when I enter this menu, my remote works. It didn't work previously. Interesting.

Are you sure about that? My ATV1000 is shown as "M3 media box board".

Yes, I can also confirm this. Spoke to Geniatech sales and their newer boxes are using the newer Amlogic M3 chipset which uses DDR3 RAM (and can take 1GB now) and some other minor differences. Not sure why they labelled the ATV1000 with "M3 media box board" but yes, mine says the same. But despite what it says there, it is still the M1 chipset.

Same deal with the Zenithink ZT-280 C91 tablet (if anyone is looking at tablets with the exact same chipset as your Geniatech, thats the one)... They released a new model called C91 "Upgrade" and the only difference is that its using the newer Amlogic M3 chipset and can take 1GB ram.

Hope that help.s

For those that have gone backwards in firmwares, would you know if you can flash any matching SPI and firmware?

I'm currently on update_spi20111102 and update_20111102 which is 2.3.4

Because of my sync issues, I want to go back to 2.2 and check that again.

Would anyone know if I can just flash 20110907SPI which I got from NikingStore

And then the update zip from Spotbuy? (Which I'm pretty sure will be the 2.2 system that mine came with a few weeks ago)

My unit came with 0907 so I never had to go to that stage from something earlier to begin with.

I'm thinking this should take me back to my start point.

I have downloaded update_spi_all_2.2, but this looks like a much earlier version, so would prefer to go straight back to 0907 if I can.

Edit: Spoke with Geniatech and they gave me the update_spi_all_2.2 file to use (and firmware), and said there is no need for the 0907 SPI.

Hi,
I received ATV1000 this week, but unable to connect to Tv yet.
My TV has only RCA and YCbCr inputs. This unit has HDMI
and YPbPr.I tried connecting YPbPr to both inputs but not working,
only normal bule screen. Is there any setting in this unit so I can connect YPbPr to YCbCr. I am not far from buying new Tv,but for now I am looking to connect to existing tv.

Thanks

YCbCr is digital component while YPbPr is analogue component.

The inputs and outputs from some devices can handle both, so it depends whether your TV also supports YPbPr.

I haven't tried the component out of my box yet.
As far as I know, these boxes cannot output YCbCr

Hi,

My TV has only RCA and YCbCr inputs.

When you say your TV has only RCA and YCbCr, firstly, how are they labelled?

You should have L-R audio, yes?

You should have a Composite in (Single RCA, CVBS)

And then you have Component which should be 3 RCA type connectors.
Are they just labelled Y, Cb, Cr? or do they have Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr?

So when you connect to Component, you want 3 cables and then also the 2 audio cables.

Hi,
Yesterday took this unit to friends house as his tv has all inputs, connected to YPbPr changed the SETTING-DISPLAY-480i.then conected to YCbCr and everything was fine. Tried 576i ok, other resolution dosent work.
Everything working good Market, motion sensor remote.

Now next I will try to upgrade firmware as flash player 10.2 is now working on all websites. For updating manual says"Copy udated file to USB,plug it to the port.Press the update button(on back of Android TV box)until there is red light appear and let button up.Then will see upgrade progress on screen.Android Tv will restart .
Don't know this will work or not because I have read different method in this forum.
Thanks guys.

Hi all, I prepared a new update.zip firmware based on latest 20120420 ICS release.
There are various changes compared to stock firmware (and custom one):
-More complete access to Market
-Root (many thanks to gboijhpok)
-Superuser (it permits us to allow or deny access to the root,
for those apps that require it)
-Smaller white pointer, more precise (many thanks to cupi1234)
-Network connection in samba, working, if we follow the right procedure.
(Pratically, we must always remain inside: mnt/NetShareDirs/(our shared folder)
and to do this, we must use backward arrow icon, in the high part
of the screen, on the left).
This is the link to the file:
update_20120420_M1_4.0_full-patched.zip

Don't unzip, rename to update.img and install as usual.

i flashed my atv1000 with custom gio firmware. i have some problems with ice cream.

1) when my device booting, some times an error comes to screen that says "User İnterface Stopped" and screen alligment go right-down of the screen. when i rebooted my device problem disappering.

2) the power off button of remote does'nt works.

3) some times my device gives an error sd card removed. i have to reboot my device for solving sd card problem. removing sd card and inserting doesnt solve problem.

4) wireless of my device some times couldnt connect internet. i am looking settings. but i could see wireless working and there is connection. i am solving this problem with closing and again opening wireless connection.

5) when i press ethernet setting from settings menu then device gives error "settings stopped" and settings menu stops return to main screen.

Hi Everyone,

I've been lurking this post since I brought at ATV1000 and it's been a huge help for various things, so thanks to everyone so far.

However I've hit a bit of a brick wall.

I've purchased a 3TB drive to store all my media on, partitioned it to 2x 1.5 drives using Mac Os Extended (journaling) file formats. This works fine, I can add files from my Mac and they read perfectly with the ATV1000.

However I can't write.

What's confusing to me, is that I have a 16GB USB key formatted to Mac Os Extended (Journaling), and when I plug this into the ATV1000 I get two folders, sda1 (which is fully writable) and sda2 (read only).

As far as my knowledge of this topic goes, the USB key and the 1st Partition of my larger hard drive are formatted exactly the same, yet I don't get these two sda folder options with the larger.

Can someone fill me in on what I am missing? I'm happy to do my research and tackle this problem myself without being spoon fed, but I'm at a brick wall now and need a push if anyone can be so kind, or I'm happy to scrap how I've attempted to do this and go with an alternative option.

In case you're wondering why I need write, I have set up a samba server on the android so that all my house mates can access the large folder from within our internal network. We are all on Macs, which I guess could raise another question - if I was to format the drive in NTFS, would be be able to write to it using the samba server, as the android would be doing the actual writing, not the Macs?

Thanks in advance.

Yes , i've installed the special flash player version- 10.2 from geniatech already, but still not working :< And then i update it to 11 , it can play flash video but very very delay , slow ,......
I have the same problem both with ICS and Gingerbread when trying to view streaming video from websites. (Specifically, Australian catchup TV) I have never been able to watch catchup TV with flash 10.2. Some sites say that I need to install flashplayer and some just don't do anything. Installing flash 11.1 has allowed me to view video on these sites with varying results. Sometimes the video is pretty good, with only a few dropped frames and sometimes it is quite bad. Even different videos from the same website give different results. I think that a modified version of flash 11.1 (or what ever the latest version is) from Geniatech is required to solve this issue.

Actually, the flash player issue is the only problem I have with this device. I have no problems streaming video over my home network or watching Youtube videos (using the Youtube app), only catchup TV. I use Gingerbread because ICS caused a noticable audio delay when streaming video from my PC and made my favourite catchup TV website unusable.
