Optimus S Rooting, ROMs, Themes, & Unbrick Methods

So I'm trying to root and flash a rom for my girlfriend. I've rooted my HTC Desire, changed recoveries, changed the memory partitions. So I'm not completely stupid on the subject. But her phone is pissing me off. I have successfully rooted her phone. But I can't for the life of me get a custom recovery on her phone. Any help/ suggestions would be appreciated.

How about some more details on what happened and what you've already tried to fix the problem?
Maybe try the following:
1) Pull the battery from the phone.
2) Plug the phone into power. You should see just the physical buttons light up most likely. If you see the message to insert the battery already, proceed to step 4.
3) If you just have the lit buttons (but no screen message), keep unplugging and plugging the phone back in until the message to insert the battery comes up on the screen. Some people have said it takes a dozen attempts or more, but it's always done it for me after about 6 tries.
4) Once that message is on screen, insert the battery again. Your phone should show the LG Logo briefly, and then eventually go into the battery charging animation. If it doesn't get to that animation, then this isn't likely to work sadly.
5) With the animation onscreen, hold down the power button until the phone starts to boot again. Let it go once the LG Logo appears.

Also, since you've rooted your phone already have you rebooted into 'Recovery Mode'? (simultaneously pressing the 'Power' button, the 'Home' button, and the 'Volume-Down' button)

No problem. Rooting will open the door for you to get rid of the bloatware. Your available internal storage won't actually increase unless you flash a custom ROM that increases your storage partition.

I'm not sure if you are updated to VC, but I'm going to be putting some more info up on how to root if you've installed the VC update.

I was not aware of that ... I had bought a refurbished Sprint LG Optimus S

Fyi...TR 1.8 for the new ZVD LG update is now available. As far as I know, Sprint has not begun pushing this update yet. If you do want to root or think you may want to in the future, use the LG Updater tool and do it through your computer. Full details and instructions can be found over at Android Central. I updated to ZVD and am running TR 1.8 and it is fantastic! :D

Where can I find this "LG Updater Tool"? One post said it was in the top post, but I could not find it there :(

Thanks,
Cliff
