Root Rooted - Problems and Sometimes NOT Rooted?

I've followed the directions online to root my Charge. I've rooted these phones before. This is a new phone I just got.

The root test programs I have as well as SuperUser and Titanium Backup show it rooted sometimes, and other times say it's not rooted. It's like hit or miss. I can't delete bloatware using Titamium as it says "cannot locate apk file". Sometimes Titanium shows no root at all. When I use Root Explorer when I try to delete or rename a file it says it did it, but actually it didn't. Either the file doesn't get deleted or the rename doesn't stick.

What the heck is going on?

Would you mind helping me with a little more information please?

Where did you get your superuser app? The superuser app from in the google market does not work with the Droid Charge. You will need to have the superuser that is floating around in all the Droid Charge forums.

When you run a root app and superuser permission pops up you click ok, but do you have the little box checked that makes the app always have superuser permission?

Before you got to your current setup you were stock correct?

Do you remember if you had taken the FP1 update before rooting?

What method did you root with?

What does your baseband version say under settings?

Are you running a ROM?

Are you running a Theme?

Do you have any non-google market apps installed?

Do you have ROM manager installed and running? (Droid Charge breaks with ROM manager)

Some possible fixes without knowing more -

Just a clean reflash of the operating system. Sometimes glitches happen from bad downloads of what is normally a good file.

Much of what you described sounds like an issue with superuser kicking on and off. Even if your system is rooted, but superuser is not running properly then no root apps will work. Go into the superuser app. Click the menu button, then preferences, the scroll down to general, look for SU binary which should give you an option to check for updates to superuser. Take the update if available. This may work out your issues.

Let me know...

Dave

And thanks Treb for the kind words. I am not an expert...I've just been around long enough to learn from lots of mistakes... :)
