The "I just got my Nexus 7!" thread

After playing with it for awhile, are you glad you traded in the Ipad 2 for it?

And how do the apps look on the device if you've tried any?

After putting it through it's paces a bit I can safely say that I'm very pleased with the Nexus 7. I'm a bit of a tech geek so I've been heavily invested in both the Android and the iOS ecosystems. What I really love about this tablet so far is the form factor is amazing. Super light and perfect for one hand use. One thing that I knew would be a plus but has become super apparent is the ability to have widgets on the tablet. That customized experince is truly something you can only get on android. I've only run into a few apps so far that have not been tablet optimized.

First impressions? Speed? Any lag from screen to screen? Is the screen bright? .... Um... OH! Check to see if you get that image impression "ghosting" if you leave a bright image on the screen for a minute them change screens. LOL sorry just tired of reading "blogger" crap. Looking for info from a user ;) .

I felt the same way with reading a lot of blogger crap so I'm glad I can give you guys regular user answers. Sorry for the delayed response but no sooner did I get this thing home and our city lost power. :dong: It's kinda funny though because it gave me a good chance to see how much I can do without it being connected to wifi.

So to answer some of your questions:
-The screen brightness is excellent IF you take off auto-brightness. If you keep it on it still looks good, just a tab bit bland. Honestly the quality of this display is excellent. Because of the smaller display it looks marginally BETTER then my iPad 2 did.
-I tested for the ghosting your mentioning and I didn't seem to have any appear. One easy test was to use the Google Now mic which is pretty white/bright and then send it to the dark homescreen. Not much ghosting at all.

My first impression is that I like it. The screen is not impressive IMO. I didn't find it to be bright at all compared to the Transformer Prime. I'm not sure how well it will show up in bright light, but then I've not seen many screens that did so I'm not going to hold it against the device.

Colors on the screen don't look good. Whites look white which is good compared to the Prime where whites looked yellowish, but reds look washed out and unimpressive IMO. The device seems responsive enough. I need to find a cover/case for it. The Kindle Fire I was using has a nicer looking screen I think.
