9.5 all good except WHY do electronics get sent out with such short power cords? I have to camp out on the floor while recharging. What's up with that?
I would give it a 9 out of 10, I'm very happy. The screen is nice and sharp but the colors are a bit less saturated when compared to my Galaxy Nexus. The build quality is excellent and I really like the size. It's funny after using the Nexus 7 for a bit my Galaxy Nexus feels so dainty.
If I ignore the intermittent screen dead spots, case creaking and poor wireless network signal strength* with out of range messages even though the router or (un)tethered phone is inches away I'd give it a high score
Awaiting my RMA email to exchange it. I envy you lucky beggars with perfect devices
* I thought this was a settings issue and started a thread to see if anyone knew the answer. As it turned out I think it is a hardware issue. I watched the list of SSIDs toggle between "out of range" and "connecting" with my friends iPhone while we were sitting next to each other on the train. My phone and TF101 show full strength signals while the N7 has one bar. WTF?
Apologies for the ramble but I though low/10 probably warranted an explanation
I love mine and have had no problems with it. I watched Transformers last night and the sound was fine on my headphones. video playback was smooth. It was on battery 4 hours, including 2 1/2 hours of movie with WiFi still on, and I still had 73% left.
I wish it had an sd card slot but I doubt I will ever fill up the 13gb free it came with. I haven't come close with my Galaxy S2.
I'd give it an 8/10. I love the size and smoothness of the interface, build quality is great too. While the screen does look a bit washed out compared to the GNex but I'm not sure it's a fair comparison because the GNex's colors are so over saturated that oranges are seared into my retina.
The biggest negative for me is lack of an SD slot. I consider its absence unforgivable.
To give a more accurate review, I'll need a week or so to live with it. I never find the quirks until after the honeymoon period ends.
Ignoring the price, I'd give it an 7.5-8/10. I'd prefer a micro-SD slot, although I understand Google's vision there. I wish it had a dual-band Wifi chip, since I run a 5GHz network at home. And I'd like MHL.
Factoring in the price, though, it easily gets bumped up to 9/10. It's a pretty shocking amount of functionality and high quality parts in there for $200.
The size and abilities make it something I carry much more often than my 10" and friendlier to view than my GNex. Would I like a card slot? Yes but for the price, I'll forgive it. I just make sure I put my music on my phone.
I give it a 9. Like others have said a SD slot would kick it up to maybe a 10. I also have a Tab 10.1 a which is also good but the size and price on the Nexus 7 make it an outstanding buy. I do a lot of reading and holding the 10.1 for long periods of time is tiring.
About a 3 or a 4.
However I have not had it for a week yet and had little time to set it up or add apps.
Out of the box it is little more than a paper weight. Unfortunately the wireless access where I work has a highly restrictive firewall and therefore I need the weekend with some real wireless access to turn this device into something useful. I was expecting more and so far I am underwhelmed.
11 out of 10 I got a 16 gig. I have 200mb of internal storage on my phone and a 2 gig card. This is the most space I've ever had on a mobile device so I don't miss the SD card very much. M screen has had 0 lift issues a little dim funkyness but all stuff I can live with. Speaker is satisfactory. If I use the tablet talk app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apdroid.tabtalk) I can text from it thru my phone via Bluetooth so I don't put my N7 down very often . No need to
Pros:
Big screen (blind in 1 eye so this thing is heaven to look at)
lots of space.
Nice speaker
Free stuff
Constant updates from mother Google (Lol)
Cons: can't connect to a apple TV (grr my dad and all of his Ctapple stuff )
