Emoji icon trouble

Hey guys,

I'm having some issues with seeing emoji icons, and I was hoping someone might be able to help...

I can send emoji's to my friend, who has an iPhone 5, and she can see them. But when she sends them back, I get question mark boxes.

I recently reset my phone, and wiped EVERYTHING off the SD card. Then I downloaded ChompSMS and the emoji add on. I also tried Go SMS Pro with the emoji add on. I have the most updated version of Android.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Moved to app section. This sounds like app compatibility issues rather than a specific handset.

Try Handcent SMS...works smoother

Yep, I'm having the same problem and from what I understand a lot of people are having the same issue with Handcent SMS. I'm using GO SMS with the Liquid Smooth Jelly Bean and in my case, if an iphone user places an emoticon in their message, I won't get the message at all. It just started happening in the past few weeks. I haven't manually changed my settings, and have made sure they haven't changed through updates.
