Ok it seems like the dust has settled, so I'll post a light topic so we can slowly get this forum back to its former glory... hopefully everyone wakes up to this in the morning and we will start from there.

So I remembered that a few months back HTC's upcoming phone line was leaked(here is a link HTC Leak

It's been said before but we are really talking about a "phone". A phone we really don't even know the official name of. MM has done a great service to the people who follow this forum.
I wouldn't blame him if he did sign off. I totally believe him and congratulate him on being able to relate what happened at the Verizon store in a readable and coherent fashion. That is not an easy task. His posts have been a lot more interesting and relevant than someone posting a stale Youtube clip of an old movie or video game.

Once again MM... a job well done.

To the MODS... were not all jerks!

Don't know what happened because I wasn't here and don't care to look back, but I will contribute to the thread.

From the looks of the last page, we've had someone in here with actual *proof* that the phone will come within the next 30 days? Or was it just a friend of a friend type deal? I have a hard time believing that it will be much longer until this phone is released. I think Verizon is keeping this whole thing under wraps because it will be their EVO competitor. Of course it would have made more sense to announce it at the same time (so as to take some wind out of the sails of the EVO), but we all saw the EVO, it wasn't ready. Maybe Verizon wants this phone to be ready before they announce it, so that it will be fresh on the minds of customers from announcement to launch. Personally I think the EVO was announced too early for a summer release. Normal people (not us phone freaks here) will forget about the phone before it drops.

@JakRabbitSlim: I hadn't looked at the date (my fail) when I did I figured that it was the HTC Imagio *facepalm*.

Actually that's a really good theory you have there. If I remember correctly the Motorola Droid wasn't formally announced until the 28th of October, that's only 10 days before release. And between those two dates there were the 'droid does' and 'droid is coming' commercials. Verizon made sure the public kept the droid in mind.
Based on that release NKT's mid-April prediction holds water, I'm almost positive that the Incredible will have a similar announcement/release schedule.

Yikes. This thread has turned into a bad soap opera slash horror movie. Honestly, who cares if Montana is making up the story or not. It does not affect you in any way. I, personally, will take his story with a grain of salt - as his source guaranteed an announcement at CTIA - which didn't happen. That doesn't mean I'm going to post and try to publicly defame the man. Hes still a good guy.. however, I find Stericson's post with more credibility and will run with 30 days. If you don't believe it, just ignore the post, and move on. Not a big deal. There really isn't any need to attack his motives. The past 4 pages could have been avoided.. honestly. Anyways, thanks Montana, for your work, and hopefully we get our phone soon enough!

I think you need to read the article to get a clearer picture (no pun intended) of what I mean. The Nexus One has an amazing brightness and contrast level and that's nice, but the pixels are not full pixels. This means that text is subpar as compared to the Droid for example. Viewing web pages and documents (emails, texts, etc.) aren't going to look very good at all. Even if they fix the Incredible's touchscreen tracking, the pixel technology will still be subpar if they continue to go this route. They are VERY different issues. I'm hoping they don't go this route but it's looking very likely. Educate yourselves! :D

NOTE: Most people who don't own a N1 see no issue and are blown away by the phone when they see it merely because it has an amazing contrast ratio and brightness level. The users who are starting to notice the issues are the owners of the Nexus One.

I posted the arstechnica article earlier in the thread, and I agree that it's very likely.

The odds of them obtaining two entirely different AMOLED screens that are supposed to be the exact same size and resolution for two phones built on what is possibly the exact same base PCB is very unlikely.

To me, HTC calling the display 800x480 is a flat out lie if there's no clarification. These aren't the days of green screens anymore. Every pixel should have three sub-pixels or more.

I don't see anything illogical about my train of thought, and arstechnica's article is pure fact. Text looks worse on this display compared to the Droid's display.

Would Verizon let something like this through testing? Absolutely they would, they've let much worse through.

ummm, where are the moderators? We could use some help here.

Well, if somebody had bothered to report the thread it would have been dealt with sooner. ;)

Some folks need to be removed!

Maybe, maybe not. It will be dealt with, but it's going to take some time to sift through 4 or 5 pages. Guess I know how I'm spending the rest of my last day off work.....

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:

This morning, I have gone through and deleted about 100 posts. I may be deleting some more. I don't want any "where's my post gone?" posts, it was either off topic, or was referencing something else that was removed and now makes no sense. The thread needed tidying, I am afraid you will have to just deal with it.

You need to remember one thing when entering this thread:

THERE IS NO OFFICIAL INFORMATION ON THE HTC INCREDIBLE

Every single piece of "information" in this thread is rumour, conjecture, clever thinking, assumption, wishful thinking or lies. HTC have yet to even confirm this phone exists. Everything that is posted must be taken with a pinch of salt, and therefore trying to de-construct and disprove everything is pointless, and not helpful to anyone at all.

This has been said many, many times before, but I will say it again: STOP WITH THE PETTY SQUABBLES

To be honest, this thread is on it last legs. I am finding it hard to find anything constructive added in the last 50 pages. If the topic can't be kept about phones, and just keeps degenerating into gibberish and rick-rolling then I will close it for good. As for the cries of "Where are the mods?":

a) This is a big forum, and there are only so many of us. We shouldn't have to baby sit one thread
b) No one reported it until several pages of rubbish had already been written. If you report it early, we can do something about it.
c) How about this "self-moderating" that was talked about last time it was closed? Why don't you all try and stop it yourselves i.e ignoring the people cause trouble, reporting them, not fuelling the fire?

Also the tags have been removed. Stop adding stupid tags or you will be removed.

Has anyone come across any photos taken WITH the HTC Evo? I know that the Camera App was one of the things they were able to show off at CTIA but I haven't seen anything in regards to the quality of the pictures.

The reason I ask is because the Incredible will also have an 8MP Camera and the Sense UI for the camera app. I imagine that the Evo uses the same camera and software that we'll find on the Incredible. If we can find any it may be a good example of what we have to look forward to.

Iv been hiding out the past couple of weeks just reading everything and waiting to post until I had any information to share. I work for one of the major shipping compaines and have been keeping an eye out for anything with verizon. This may be off topic an I apoligize if it is, however Yesterday I say alot of advertisment materials marked as April 1st Promo which im sure is nothing more than another bogo. I also saw alot boxes marked maps refresh no guess of that one. Also a few days prior to the SKYPE release I saw SKYPE materials come through. BUT today I saw 1 lonley box headed to a corporate store that was labled "Shadowbox" take it for what its worth.

I know considering this is my first post my credibility is not up among some of the other members on this forum, however if anyone that works in a Verizon store today recieves a box like this can you confirm this, or better let us know the contents of this box. Thanks

A shadowbox is part of a display setup - it's a type of case. Sorry, but I wouldn't consider it anything suspicious.

I'm just now getting caught up on all the stuff from last night, but some of it is a bit hazy and I'm guessing this is due to some posts that were removed by the mods. Some pieces were missing from the puzzle, but I'm guessing some people didn't believe MM's story and started flaming him and that triggered a flame war (and the subsequent deletion of posts, which I can understand). I have no reason not to believe Montana Man. I definitely don't believe he's intentionally trying to deceive us. I think the continuing disappointment of lack of news is causing people to become overly paranoid and they need someone to blame for it. People, I want this phone just as bad as you do and I'm sure MM does too. I don't believe he'd go through all that trouble as a practical joke. Even if he did, I'd give him a pat on the back for this one because he went all out. He's still A-ok in my book.

I missed the flame war (if there was one). Nonetheless, this thread is certainly entertaining.

We have a ton of new people posting who obviously never read the post on page one.
Personally I hope those who are complaining and cant understand this is a place for open discussion are banned. Slow days I don't see anything wrong with the joking around related to the phone or phone carrier.

Not Admin directed: but people should relax and quit griping about the funny conversation/theories/tags.

Thanks for cleaning up the thread and warning everyone once more.

edit: I'll be posting what I find out from my local VZW later today.

Things have settled down a bit since we've gotten some news that seems to indicate we're in for a wait of several weeks for an announcement. And sure, we all seem to get the fact that hot specs become less hot as time passes, though the carriers don't seem to understand that.

But the bottom line is this: It's just hard for me to understand how I'm sitting here, on a Friday morning, no contract, money in hand, and all I want is a phone from a reliable carrier that has a modern OS and modern components. That's it. That's no special request. But if I drive out of work right now, there is nowhere that I can go to get something that has those 3 seemingly basic characteristics.
