Nexus 7 Teardown @ ifixit

Here she is, the motherboard:

NVIDIA T30L Tegra 3 processor

Max 77612A inverting switching regulator

AzureWave AW-NH665 wireless module

Broadcom BCM4751 integrated monolithic GPS receiver

1) Stereo speakers.

2) Optically laminated display/glass.

Edit: Free patent idea for someone -- multi-point speakers placed on each side of a tablet device that relies on the orientation sensor to decide which speakers to power and what audio channels to use.

Although the official Nexus page says there's a speaker in the back, we clearly see a pair of drivers.

What's a driver as opposed to a speaker?

Yup.

By stereo speakers, I basically mean there are two drivers (speakers, same thing), one for the right channel audio, and one for the left channel audio.

As a practical matter however, the stereo effect will be nil or negligible because 1) there is almost no stereo separation (distance between speakers), and 2) when held in landscape, both channels will be only coming from one side.

Hence my genius patent idea who wants to make a ton of money in 2-3 years when the tablet market has matured so much that manufacturers will need to distinguish their products based on stellar multimedia prowess.

Has anyone seen info about this cable being included with the N7?

Initially, the Nexus 7 was criticized for its lack of HDMI output. However, the included micro USB-to-HDMI cable solves that problem.

It seems like it would be pretty hard to make that mistake, not to mention with a picture included. But that siad, I don't beleive I've seen that cable on the list of box contents on the play store. It also wasn't in any of the pre-release I/O Nexus 7 unboxing videos, as far as I'm aware (although the I/O box could be different from the retail, admiedly). I don't think any other review has mentioned it having HDMI capabilities either.

I'd wager the site made a mistake.

The guy in the teardown said it was included but I'm sure his was the model received at the I/O event.

I don't remember any review saying it was included.

I watched a few un-boxing and didn't see this cable but then again I wasn't looking specifically for it....

There is no USB-HDMI cable. In the comments section of the tear-down post they admit to screwing up. They accidentally included a pic of a cable from the Nexus Q bundle.

I haven't found the comment they admit they screwed up, but the pic is no longer in the article.

A fair trade-off given the much higher visual fidelity of optically-laminated displays, in my humble opinion.

That picture was mistakenly published during a teardown review. It was actually from the Nexus Q, and was not included the nexus 7.

The N7 does not support HDMI out, unfortunately.

Yup stereo speakers but I think the left and right are reversed, or the video I am playing is reversed because the headset comes out reversed also and you can hear the separation if you hold the bottom to your nose.

The Vizio tab already does this. They have 3 speakers on 3 corners. When you change the orientation one speaker would shut off and the other would turn on.

OK the video had the channels reversed .. the N7 is ok.

My Nokia5800 phone has stereo speakers on the long side so watching movies gives the full stereo experience.
