So, I used to be on Virgin Mobile up until just recently, I've had the Optimus V and the Motorola Triumph, and I rooted and ROM'd them with ease and no issue. I am currently on the Gnex HSPA+ on straight talk which has superb speeds where I live. Anyway, I came to LOVE MIUI on the Triumph, and I'd love to install it on this phone especially since it's official MIUI. I'm basically looking for answers on how to root JB 4.1.1 and whether the JB MIUI ROM is worth the trouble at the moment, the pros and cons and so forth. Thanks all for your time. :)

Edit: on my previous phones I never dealth with fast boot and boot loaders and stuff so explaining what those are would be much appreciated as well.

Ah, a familiar face from the VM forums.. HI!!

Check the rooting guides. Everything you need to know is there. ;) (I highly recommend the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit for unlocking and rooting the G-Nex. It's sooooo easy, and you can do it all with one click).

I haven't tried the MIUI JB yet because it's so new, but I might at a later date once they've worked out all the kinks. I had severe system ui FC's on the ICS MIUI version, which sucked because I really wanted to run MIUI (there were others that did not have that issue, so perhaps it was just my particular phone. You more than likely wouldn't have that problem).

If my insomnia continues, I may just flash it and test it out of boredom.

Don't feel bad, I was intimidated at first, too. You're not alone. :)

The toolkit basically does everything for you. It's actually easier than when I rooted the OpV. Think of the bootloader as just one screen you wave hello to on the way to the recovery screen. You won't spend hardly any time on that screen at all. And the little time you are on that screen, the Toolkit tells you exactly what to do there. Think of the toolkit as a person standing next to you walking you through the entire unlock and root process.

Once you do it the first time, you will ask yourself why you were so intimidated. Promise! ;)

Nice Petrah did not know about that one.

I've used the Wugfresh one in the past with decent results.

Nexus Root Toolkit v1.5.3 | WugFresh

Ahh, yes. That's the toolkit I used the first time I unlocked and rooted my G-Nex. Very nice toolkit indeed!

When Google pushed the JB OTA update, I wanted to unroot and relock my phone so that I could get the official update and create a nandroid for it, then unlock and reroot again. Wugfresh wasn't updated with the GSM info at the time for JB (it is now of course), and I was too impatient so I got the other toolkit hehe. I'm one of those instant gratification people.. I want it now now now now rofl.

At any rate, I totally agree. Wugfresh's toolkit is equally as good as the one by mskips. :)
