So, I wont get into the whole story but I recently received a Droid Razr as an insurance replacement for my Droid Bionic. I actually really liked my Bionic for the most part, but I was happy to get the 'upgrade' to a Razr when the Bionic was out of stock.

So far I love the phone. It is so much lighter and thinner than my Bionic. I thought it had the same processor... but this seems way faster. Maybe it's ICS? Not sure. Anyways, it's a very nice phone.

My one issue is that I seem to be stuck on 3G somehow. When I first got the phone 4G seemed fine, but somewhere along the line in the past 2 days... I either did something or it just happened... I'm just never connected at 4G anymore. At home I always had 4G on my Bionic. At work it was a bit on and off because it's more remote.. but usually 4G. Now it's been a day and a half with no 4G and I'm starting to wonder what happened.

I tried a reboot, I tried going in and out of airplane mode. No dice. Any suggestions?

Thanks, I was also thinking it might be a defect... but the one thought which keeps coming into my head is that when I first got it (and this thing was brand new out of the box - not a refurb) 4G was working fine. At some point while I was downloading my apps and configuring it, it stopped working. There was one point when my battery got close to empty for the first time, I got this pop up which told me about rules you can put in place to preserve battery life when the battery is below 25%. It sounds almost like what I used to use Locale for. Anyways.. it seems like it was just about around that time my 4g went away and never came back.

I doubt it's a defect. Something probably changed it. You could try a factory reset or make sure smart Actions isn't turning 4g off or something.

Yes, I have a suspicion that Smart Actions turned off my 4G somehow but wasn't smart enough to turn it back on. I actually found Smart Actions again after my last post and started playing around with it... the strange thing is that it doesn't seem to have the option to turn off 4G... but maybe it did at one point and there is some kind of feature there which is only partially implemented or was there and taken out which isn't working correctly. Anyways, that's my current theory. If my phone had an option to run 4G off and on (like my Bionic did) I bet that's all I would need to do this.

Hmm... that makes me wonder if I found some widget out there from a 3rd party which switches 4g on and off if that might work...

I had this same problem that started yesterday. My signal started dropping and coming back as 4G still and then it dropped and came back as 3G and stayed there all day yesterday and most of the day today. I finally figured out it was the app System Tuner. I noticed the app had done something weird (not related to signal) so I uninstalled and I went back to 4G right away.

So it very well could be an app doing it.
