Backordered?!

Who got the backorder email from Google Play, and when did you successfully (or so you thought) enter your original order? I ordered mine at 2:30 PM EST on the 13th.

I got it. I'm not super concerned because my current month with my provider isn't up until 12/03, but I can see how some people could be really let down. 3 weeks is quite a while to be backordered, but in the email it seems as though they're going to cover the shipping costs now? If so, then that's kind of nice.

From what I can tell by the commenters on here, the ones likely backordered may be the ones that got their orders in a few hours after launch. I haven't received an email regarding a backorder, and I hope that I don't. I got mines in at 11:48. Those who got their orders to finally submit at 1, 2, and 3 o'clock, after the initial rush, seem to be the ones that got pushed back.

I ordered at 12 noon central time and got a cancellation notice. Doesn't bother me too much since they will credit the shipping cost.

Also, since google has sent me a free Nexus Q and a free Chrome notebook I will cut them some slack on this one.

How'd you manage the free stuff? If they give me free things I will be a lot less unhappy.

Backorder update:

"I apologize for the inconvenience this situation has caused. As a company we hold ourselves to very high standards, and we pride ourselves in taking care of every customer.

I truly appreciate you being understanding about the situation. I just checked your order status and it currently shows as being backordered.

While we do hope to have Nexus 4's back in stock soon, I do not have a definite time and/or date to share with you. I'm sure this is not the answer you wish to hear, but please do know that we are working as diligently as we can to fulfill all orders as soon as we can.

Again, thank you for your continued support. Please do not hesitate to reply to this email."

Am I the only one paying attention to the backorder status lol, I feel like I'm spamming this thread.

This is the last email I got from them:

"Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I wish I had more information to share with you, but we don't have a definite date and time that orders are being shipped. We had given customers a 3 week timeframe. Please do note that this is a worse case scenario. We do hope to ship it sooner than that.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reply to this message!

Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving"

I've been following all the threads lmfao waiting on the nexus 4 and some sort of information from google on my order. I haven't emailed them because i received the crappy 3 weeks notice so figured I'd wait but I might have to shoot them an email, maybe an angry phone call see if it gets me anything maybe a free bumper + the free shipping that was already promised lolz but that's only wishful thinking.

Being on backorder personally I have been paying very close attention to various forums trying to figure out what is going on. Google is no help and feeds the same lines any time you try to contact them. From what I gather most of the people who ordered the phone and din't get a backorder email received their devices today or will tomorrow at the latest, supposedly. I have confirmed that many people did receive their Nexus today. Ready for the bad news?

The 3 week deadline is still in effect for anyone who received a backorder email, but the reps, who have been very reliable so far (end sarcasm) have been saying to expect something during week 2 as 3 weeks is the worst case scenario. Since Thanksgiving is this week and UPS operates on a Monday - Friday arrangement with Google this week is pretty much out of the question if you haven't received a tracking number or shipping conformation yet.

So... Long story short, if you haven't got a shipping conformation yet you can forget about this week. Next week is something to hope for and the first week of December is worst case scenario.

Google really messed this launch up. Not that it needs said, but i'll say it anyways. They should have put a cap on the number you can order. Say max 2 per person. I've seen a lot of sellers, some who have 10+ Nexus 4's, reselling on ebay/craigslist/etc. They didn't allow pre-orders to gauge demand. The largest internet company in the world couldn't keep the order servers up (explain that one). Orders got corrupted. They're completely sold out around the world. The reps who are stuck on phone duty sound exhausted when you call and they are being told nothing by Google. I've really lost faith in Google after this whole mess.

That's what I figured next week most likely and Dec. worst case scenario :-\ was just checking out ebay and was a mistake made me angry 600+ for a 16gb and 500+ for 8gb and most of the sellers have a few available like 5 in hand I just want my one in hand for my own use not resale sigh ah well.

Yup! I tried from the beginning of the launch for over 5 hours to get a Nexus and kept getting an error message. I bent over Sunday and bought an 8gb on eBay for $519.

(over $170 more than I'd have paid with Google including tax and shipping)

I got it today, downloaded maybe 10 apps and put about 400 songs on it. I have a little over 2 GB left :(

I wanted the 16GB but I wasn't paying $600+ for it. If I paid that much I was going to get a Galaxy Note 2

I wholeheartedly agree! If I didn't need a phone I would have waited for re stock . I said before I am not usually "That guy" but I think Google owes us something. Even if it is a Play Store credit.:mad::mad::mad::mad:

I just bought an S3 from AT & T for a dollar (they matched Sam's Club Black Friday sale). I'll hang onto that until this crap settles down. I might just wait a few months now on the assumption that Google will do what they did with the N7 and release an increased memory version.

Feels great not having to keep checking Google Play for stock. I know the S3's not the phone I want but for now it's a better option than dealing with Google. Who knows, maybe I'll root it and turn it into something nice that has MicroSD and LTE? 8-P
