Favorite App so far.... Developers please see link to Announcements above.

This thread is contains the collective Android Forums group think of their best new app of the moment.

If you post an app here, make it one you have used and would rate 4 stars or higher. (Potentially good apps can wait until the features have been added/bugs worked out that make them 4+ stars.)

Why create this thread?
There are more than 10K apps in the market and more new ones daily. You might find a hidden gem and others will benefit.

This thread is:
A place to learn about good new apps

This thread is not:
An ad board for new apps
A place to complain that "you have had that app for X long already"

Life Stories - I was a big fan of the FMyLife app, but Life Stories has FMyLife, FMySexLife, Gives Me Hope, Hate Post, It Made My Day, I Had a Win, My Life is Average, Makes Me Think, My Life is Crap, and Today I LOL'd. Great way to entertain me while I'm bored.

Twidroid Pro - I wayyyy overused the free version, so it was only right to pay for it.

NewsRob - Great way to get my Google Reader content.

I know that's three, but they are the three that keep my day entertaining.

Ok, so the fact is that many of my favorite apps have appeared here already, so here is a very useful one that I don't see. It's called "Call Caddy" and it solves the problem of not having a proximity sensor on your phone. It is especially useful for HTC phones and it works by unlocking and locking your screen when you make or receive phone calls. The iPhone does this automatically, and it used to drive me nuts that my HTC didn't. Kudos to the guys that finally fixed this annoying issue. Def worth the buck.

Ok, I do not have an Android phone yet! I am waiting for the much anticipated Motorola Droid. My question is I saw a video clip or something about an App or maybe it was a Widget that gave sports updates. I am big on keeping up to date with my favorite sports teams. Can anyone help me out with an explanation please?

I use Sports Tap. I have tried many others and find this app all inclusive. It's really easy to keep up with sports, data, articles, photos, and more.

I have a number of favourite apps that I stumbled across, that I wish I'd discovered earlier:

Aldiko - ebook reader
B-Folders - password/note storage
OI Shopping List - lists!
3G Watchdog - monitor your data usage
Y5 Battery Saver - turn WiFi on/off depending on presence of WiFi signal
AutoLock - enables screen lock only after a given timeout.

Games:
Bebbled
GeoQuiz
SpacePhysics

I have a question as far as compatibility ! I will be a free agent come December and will choose between the iphone or Droid....... I really want the Droid... So I am reading up on everything I can before I make my choice. I like that the Droid is an open source. But I worry about who is managing the apps.
Long story short ... I am lining up all my apps I want before I get the phone.. I see that I want the power manager, battery icon on home page, Locale, and many more................

My question is with all of these custom settings from locale, power manager, and other apps that can do custom settings on where I am etc. do these apps conflict with each other. I love to customize stuff. I use Firefox an a lot of times some of my extensions that I use to customize my browser conflict and conflict or crash the other tweeks I have added.
Is anyone finding this troublesome ? I love all the apps but wonder which one to download because there is not one that does all and a lot that seem to override each other on 1 or two tasks.

If I could write an app I would design one that does everything I like from many out there to keep it simple.... I'm loosing sleep just reading about all the apps.

Google Skymap has got to be the coolest app I have ever used. Hold it up to the sky and it has the stars and planets labeled as you see them.

TouchDown works great as an Exchange/Active Sync program (way better than the OS email/exchange app.)

I know it is part of the new OS, but the Google Maps Navigation is also really slick. I just got a MotoDroid along with the car cradle and I just drop it in touch the voice search button and say "navigate to Piggly Wiggly" (grocery store) and it brings it up on a map for me to verify the destination, then I can select navigate and it starts mapping and telling me how to get there. It even reroutes as soon as it realizes that you have strayed from the original route and when you arrive, it switches automatically to street view so you can compare your surroundings to a 360 degree on-screen view.
