Good Roms?

I put the 2 rom links for our phone in this thread. Be careful with the stock tw roms in the regular android development thread. They are really nice but do not come with a custom recovery like the ones in the original android development thread. So you have to follow instructions carefully on those.

Be sure to make a backup of your stock rom and always leave it on your sd card. And always have a flashable zip of the ics kernel you used to make the backup on there as well. So if you ever flash something wrong and get boot loop you can always boot into recovery flash the ics kernel reboot recovery then restore.

Also invest in mobile odin and titan backup! Those are in my opinion mandatory for anyone who is rooted! Keep in mind mobile odin CAN NOT flash modems! A lot of AOSP roms require an ICS modem and TW JB leaks require an JB modem. We all here like to use different SAFE recoveries, my personal favorite is EL26 which I think is a GB kernel lmao. If you do use EL26 don't forget to keep a copy of the rom you are flashing kernel on your sd card!!

My favorite aosp roms are baked black bean. Pacman. And paranoid android all run by sniper.

And my favorite tw roms are ga10 by kolbridge or jellyverse by shadow god

Haven't used aosp or kanged versions for this phone yet
fl04 stock is fast easy and reliable if.you wanted something easy and simple I recommended fl04 ga10 has the abuse patch

He doesn't need to use the abuse exploit anyway. Hes already rooted Ga10 is the latest jb rom. And jellyverse Is fl16 the second latest jb rom

I been eyeing that blackbean since it dropped... Just don't know which ICS modem to use? Are you using the latest ICS modem are did you try it with JB modem. I have had success with Pacman on a JB modem. I can say that rom has a lot of options! I just can't seem to stay away from TW though....

Yeah Blackbean is really nice. Definitely take a day to check out. Im the same way tho. I always come back to tw for some reason. I used the latest ics modem on BB. It has alot options like pacman. But ones id never seen b4.

Okay, where is my Touch Wiz bat so I can bash you with it. lol

TW is just short for Touch Wiz. the stock ROM our phones come with is a TW ROM. It refers to the user interface style the phone is using on stock and other TW ROMs

GOD you're lucky you didn't ask that question at XDA!!! They would have CRUSHED you! (kidding... I like it there too!)

And if it makes you feel any better, I had the same question shortly after I got my GS2 and had to Google it (so I didn't get a slice of Codegerm's TW bat like you just did!)

Lol tw bat wasn't to bad, thanks and yes I seen cajun guy at xda and I don't ever even dare ask anything there lol.

This is the best community ever. I like how it is encouraged to participate and even add what you can.
I joined this forum when I got my prevail and that was a great community then lg marque, HTC design, but by far this is the best, great group of people.

Can't wait to start trying different roms and have some fun.

We feel the same. Many of us on the GS2 side came from the Prevail forum as I see you did as well, which was also a great forum.

This spot has a tight knit group of good people that are willing to help (and answer the same question many, many times over as the user base grows) without making everyone feel like idiots or talking down.

IMO, there's a ton of knowledge on other forums but I view a lot of them as "Read Only" and limp over here if anything I read there raises any questions that I need to ask haha.
