Help Screen Burn In

Believe it or not, it DID help: it turned off that desk mode when docked screen thing! Thanks for directing me right to it, Liam!

But then it just sits on the home screen.

She'll have a choice of two options when it comes back with the new screen: keep it in standby and with just a black screen in the dock, or find something in motion for the dock.

I'm in the UK, maybe it varies in other countries, but Ive just checked my warranty card, and its says;

"Samsung warrants this product as free of defects in material, design and workmanship for the period of twenty four (24) months from the original date of receipt of the product (**or 6 months for batteries**)"

Is proof of purchase needed for samsung or is the IMEI enough mate.

I read somewhere that samsung had admitted to a problem with early burn in, suggested using low brightness and would repair any affected device

Are they replacing the screen or the whole phone?

If it's a new phone then a full term warranty should start again from when you receive it. :)

I do not know. It will be up to Samsung to determine which is more cost effective, I suppose: a new screen replacement or just throwing a whole other S3 in the box. Time will tell.

DudeL! Where on earth have you been hiding? :D

One way to determine the severity of screen burn-in is to open the camera app, point the camera at a blank, white sheet of paper (or bright white wall) and look around the screen for ghosted images. I will find a screensaver for her S3 that MOVES before it comes back from the factory.

Hey Chiefy! Red looks good on ya! Ever the credit to AF, you are.

Basically, my desktop has been on the fritz for almost a year, then my g/f got the laptop in the divorce (lol), and after I got my S3, I realized I couldn't justify spending money on another device because I do almost everything from it. Like seriously, the only thing I really use a computer for is for rooting or fixing screw ups on my phone. But as every phone on my plan has been rooted and flashing is super easy these days I really hadn't felt the need to use another device. It does, however, significantly cut down the amount of responses I post in forums. All that, plus the rigors of trying to move up the corporate ladder.

Anyway, yeah, this phone does have screen burn in and it sucks. Mine doesn't but I knew better from pretty early on thanks to our demos. Darn OLEDS.
