Help Verizon is out of their minds

So I finally got sick of the constant reboots and battery pulls and called 611 to make a complaint. The reps don't really know much about Android or the GN so I tried to explain to them that my phone is rebooting whenever I use navigation or turn on wifi and that my screen blacks out constantly.

After convincing them that I am already up to date, they now want me to go into safe mode, delete all my apps and then install them one by one to "trouble shoot" the app that is causing the problem. Yes, why don't I just quit my job to take the time to do that.

I tried to explain that it probably is not an application, it is a GN problem that is well known. They don't believe me.

They also know nothing about 4.2.2. I'm running 4.1.1 totally stock. The rep just told me she is going to contact samsung directly to see if they will push it to my phone right now. lol right, this will happen.

They also told me the reason we don't get updates is that they aren't provided to Verizon haha.

I think we all know that VZW's service reps are anywhere between incompetent to liars or both.

What I haven't ever heard in 16 months of reading GNex forums is those issues you listed being common "well known" for the phone. You must have a faulty device or something else incompatible going on.

Constant reboots? That is pretty common from what I have seen. Screen going dark and requiring a battery pull? Likewise.

If you run a search there are several threads on each issue with plenty of "me too" replies. 2 of my best friends have the same phone and theirs do it too. Can't be a simple app causing the problem and we're all stock.

Why can't it be an app? There are a lot more people that have never had either problem.

My phone had random reboots in 4.0.2 and a bit in 4.0.4, 4.1.1 very rarely gave me a random reboot... I could count them on one hand probably. However, 4.1.1 was buggy in other ways. A factory reset works wonders. With major upgrades, its probably good to just go ahead and do a factory reset. Hell, its probably good to do one every so often anyway depending on how you use the phone. I had about 350 or more apps, and was running out of space (had about 2GB free on the 32GB phone) which really made my phone perform poorly. Starting from scratch was the best decision I made with this phone!

I like 4.1.1 so much, I am hesitant to upgrade to 4.2.2 even. However, 4.0.4 gave me the best battery life... always a give and take...

In the future if you ever get a Rep that doesn't seem to know much about what your problem is. Just politely end the phone call and call back to get another Rep. In my past experience it all just depends on who you get. Most of the time you will get one Rep that will say No to whatever you're trying to do, hang up and call back and you'll get one willing to bend over backwards to help you.

As such if i still had my G Nex i wouldn't be fooling with stock os anyways.

Agreed on all counts. I was just hesitant to root this because my incredible was always super buggy after rooting (I was running CM7 at the time). Still trying to see if the battery is better now, seems it...but tbd

Using a good custom Kernel is where you'll see your biggest battery gains usually. Especially if you start undervolting.
