Root [ROM][ALPHA] CyanogenMod 10 for the LG Connect 4G MS840

Well I was about to start working on finding a fix for the data issue so I flashed VV3, rooted and set it up just the way I like it ;) then I made a backup (using CWM) and then flashed CM10 test0312 so I can try out the new fix attempt (making a IMEI/EFS Backup) with Terminal Emulator and restoring IMEI/EFS with Terminal Emulator once CM10 was installed, but it didnt fix the issue  but I was able to restore my VV3 backup and it had data still :D so maybe if others make a backup of VV3 they will be able to test and restore back without any worries?

I expected some instability before the first time I flashed it. I was shocked to see how smooth it is versus Gingerbread, my usual CPU-butchering apps like Facebook and Words with friends run without a hiccup, amazing. :D

I also stopped by a MPCS store today to check out some phones since taxes will be back soon. I was rather disappointed with the S3 they have on display running 4.1.2... Awesome phone, display is absolutely stunning, but I noticed choppy animation all around like some peeps on FB/MPCS page were complaining about. ZTE Avid, Anthem are poo, Galaxy admire is a joke. LG Spirit is a DAMN good phone for the money, too bad it can't be cracked open yet  Looks like some Motion peeps are giving up and moving on, eh?

Iwould think metros, but dunno, I tend not to use any stock apps in CM. ;)

When pulling a log cat could I use a terminal on my device or does it have to be on my computer using SDK and adb

yea it can be done from term on the device, just a lot easier with adb.

And you just need adb if all you're doing is debugging etc. I have it uploaded on dev-host and shabby has a adb package up as well.

hey guys, so i just rooted my buddys phone, hes got an s2 skyrocket, and he told me he needed some app to get his to data to work, he said it was called tweaker and he said it scans all sorts of APNs to find the right one, idk just throwing an idea out there

Thanks ReZ! I'll give it a try! To PlayfulGod and anybody else interested:

Yesterday I tried backing up the Metro APNs from my phone and forcing them to CM10 with the APN backup & restore app using paid Titanium backup. Also bypassed the Market checker (cuz ICS and JB block APN changes from 3rd party app), did it all and successfully pushed all 19 APNS. No luck, even with reboot and letting phone sit for a while... I can't say for sure if they stuck or not since CM10 APNs on our ROM don't show even if they are there. This is a known problem with CM10, I'm still looking for a way to AT LEAST get them to show, and work from there.

Another bit of info about ICC cards not showing up: This is yet another issue with CM10. After poking around in XDA and a few other pages, some people who have CM10 test/nightly builds are showing a zer0'd ICC# yet everything works, even data. PG was right. The phone reading, seeing and displaying ICC are all different processes, we just needed to find out if the phone is even READING it, unfortunately phone is saying there is no card installed.

I know have a new problem though, my battery seems to be fully discharging whenever I try to boot up any backup or ROM. Sometimes it lasts for a while, but it always ends up rebooting itself no matter what backup I use. I found a solution though, in order to boot, I need to have my phone connected to the charger and it will stay on. Could my battery really have gone nuts? -.- I do have an extended "Fat Albert" battery in a drawer somewhere, but eh. :(

I HAVE NOW FOUND THE -REAL- SOLUTION TO THE LOSS OF SIGNAL WHEN RESTORING A CWM BACKUP.

I'll explain. I have been testing like crazy for the past few hours (By the way, my battery problem was solved by using a different battery I had, so yes, my stock battery is just crazy now.) Anyways, I tested and tested and tested once more only to determine the following:

1. A lot of us, if not all, tried to get signal back into our phones by changing the settings under More... > Mobile Networks.

2. We changed these settings in a way that we would get signal in CM10; however, this is not the way our phones normally get signal. MetroPCS is a CDMA carrier, NOT a SIM carrier. The only reason we have a SIM card is for LTE. Additionally, We cannot swap SIM cards to get service using our phone number in a different phone.

3. The reason I mentioned the above is because when we change the CDMA Subscription setting to RUIM/SIM... IT WILL CHANGE HOW THE ENTIRE PHONE COMMUNICATES WITH THE NETWORK AND IT WILL LOOK FOR A SIM CARRIER which, obviously, it won't find.

4. The CDMA Subscription setting should be left alone or changed back to NV before restoring a CWM backup. Keep in mind that you can ONLY change this option in CM10. The MPCSHiddenMenu does not let you change this option. If you restore a backup with the RUIM/SIM option selected in CM10, the phone will get no signal and it will appear as it is looking for service.

5. If you already switched back to a backup while RUIM/SIM was selected in CM10, simply restore back to CM10 either by doing a clean flash or via a back up. Once there, ensure that the NV option is selected instead and then restore whatever backup you want that is not a CM10 one. --OR-- To access the CDMA Subscription settings screen in a non-CM10 ROM or backup, use Launcher Pro to create a Shortcut > Activity and then scroll down until you see Dialer then scroll to the very bottom to see the second last option before the next app. The name is "Dialer", but it is the activity name which you have to pay attention to: com.android.phone.CdmaSubscription. That's the one you want. Crete the shortcut, select it and then ensure that you have NV selected instead of RUIM/SIM. The signal should come back immediately. You should have your service back.

Additional Troubleshooting: If you still have no service, also make sure that you have "LTE/CDMA/EvDo" selected.

EDIT: One thing. The fact that the SIM card is used for LTE does not mean that it is the SIM's card only use. MetroPCS uses this card to Authenticate the phone over their network as a security measure (possibly to make cloning phones a bit more difficult.) You cannot place a call if the SIM card is not in the phone, regardless if your MDN, MIN, SID, and PRL are saved in your phone's memory. This would explain why a lot of us cannot make calls using CM10 and why we do not have data.

I might be wrong about some things I said, but this seems to be close to the right answer. :)

**NOTE** I changed this post a lot to prevent myself from confusing people. I found a better way to access the CDMA Subscription settings without the need of the LGHiddenMenu.apk. :)
