Help Droid + JawBone II = no volume control, volume doesn't actually change

My JawBone II just arrived the volume is stuck to VERY LOUD regardless of the volume changed in-call via the Droid (press volume buttons during a call and volume appears to adjust, yet volume is actually still the same).

I tried everything I could think of, yet the volume is still stuck to high despite volume display states that the volume is low:
* Un-pair Jawbone II, restart Droid, pair Jawbone II again.
* Change ringer volume and all volume settings to low, restart Droid.
* Change in-call volume of handset, speakerphone, and bluetooth to low.

I'm rooted, running the latest software, and my Droid was purchased nearly three weeks ago. The Droid sound quality overall has been awesome even while using voip on Google Voice, so long as the volume isn't set too high (easy to do if you are holding the phone pressing the volume button unknowingly).

Has anyone learned how to get the volume control on a a bluetooth headset (that does not have volume control on the actual headset) when paired with the Motorola Droid to work properly?

Does anyone know how to actually turn off the key tones sound while listening to voicemail (so it isn't playing loud dial tones)?

Any suggestions or ideas on what to try is most appreciated. Thank you!
