Voice notifications started suddenly?

For some reason, suddenly this morning when I get a text message my default notification is working but also I am getting a voice notification as well that tells me who the message is from. How do I shut this off and only have my default sound working? I do not see any new apps running and cannot find out how to disable the voice. Any info or ideas out there?

Look for "Talkback" in settings and turn that off. It should be somewhere under Accessibility.

Talk back is off, and it is only voicing the text message notifications, not the incoming e-mails. I have been through every setting and application I can find and nothing turns off the voice.

have you installed or updated an app like skyvi (siri type app) recently? If yes, the car mode will read incoming texts, perhaps that's whats going on.

I have not added any new apps and to correct my previous post, I am getting voice notifications on text messages AND incoming calls, but not e-mails. I used to have a motorola droid x and it had a "car" mode which changed the functionality as described above but I dont think that is the case with my galaxy s 3. Anyone know differently?

On the S3, pull down the notification shade then you will see five toggles like wifi, gps, etc. Swipe them from right to left to see an additional five toggles. Driving mode is among the hidden ones.

I had this happen to me before. I thought it was TalkBack but that wasn't the case. It never dawned on me to scroll to see the "hidden" toggles where driving mode had been turned on.
Although to this day I don't know how since I didn't do it and no one had my phone. :eek:
