I've just replaced my external SD card for the S3 with a 32GB after the last 16GB one died.

I have transferred music through Windows Explorer and this goes well. However, when I go to scan for music in either Poweramp or Play Music, there are lots of folders missing. When I browse the card with the filer explorer, I see that many of the folders have been renamed starting with a 'μ' and contain no files.

I have done this a number of times now, formatting the card in between. It seems that, over a certain number of GB, this happens. I have moved the folders across individually, checking each time that they are on the phone. They are there until I access one of the aps to play them.

I did manage to get in to one of the folders in Play Music, but then it suddenly disappeared.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this a card issue, or some issue with 32GB cards? Thanks

How did you format the card. The preferred way is using the phone. The only file size limit would be due to Fat32, which is 4GB per file. If you have a card reader for the PC, it would be best to use it to transfer the files to the SD Card after Formatting it in the Phone. You may also try using MyPhoneExplorer app for the phone. MyPhoneExplorer for PC.

I had a 32GB SanDisk class 10 card that did exactly that. I got a warranty exchange and the new card hasn't given me any problems.
