Root [ROM][ICS] Paranoid Android Ver1.6 Beta from source (31JUL2013)

Here is an update on how Skype is working on this.

When I use the FFC it works but after like 5 minutes or less I keep having my Wi-Fi disconnect. But when I use the rear camera with Skype it never disconnects me from Wi-Fi only when I use FFC.I looked for errors in the logcat but couldn't find any.Anyone else have this issue?

Skype has always been a little wonky for me, even with CM7

Hey guys, I am working on a new release and need a couple people to test whether or not the text jumble is a kernel issue or not. So, if you could flash this kernel and run it for a few days to see if the text gets garbled, that would be a big help, since it is so random.

Ok, all you gamers out there, I think I have fixed the GPU drivers in the kernel. I don't know all the games that would reboot the device, so I need your help.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Just flash in recovery.

BSydz_PA-CM9_GPU_Test_motorola_triumph-kernel-1

Let me know how it goes.

I have also found that most of our issues are related to WIFI, it is what caused the sleep of death, as the build I am running now has that issue but only if wifi is on when it goes to sleep, and it is also eating up the battery. I am working on it now. What is messed up is I got the wifi working correctly with CM10 it even reconnects after sleep, but I can't translate it to CM9.

I have also updated the touchscreen drivers, so things in that department are looking good.

I have been spending some time trying to integrate stuff from the Triumph source code, I posted this a while ago somewhere but here is the released source trimmed to only include files that were different from CAF 2.2.2 source. Triumph Source Code Diffs CAF.zip

BSydz: You have done an amazing job with CM9! WIFI is the last major issue in your ROM, it drains better and does not re-connect well. But otherwise the ROM is completely usable. I've been happily using it for days, it is an amazing achievement. Much better than any CM7 or any previous CM9.

If CM10 can fix WIFI sleep and disconnect issues, and won't break cameras again, than we would get a triumph that we were all wanted when we were buying this phone! And only for $25 per month! :))))

Thank you very much for your great contributions!

I think I know what the problem is.Have you noticed how HOT the phone gets when using Skype? When it's cool no issue but when it heats up the Wi-Fi disconnects.I think its poor soder connections.

Crap! It's funny because I usually prop it up on a windowsill to use it, and when I pull it down I just figure it's blazing hot because of the sun. Nevermind that the windowsill itself is never hot, ha-

I bet you're right. I may try Hangouts next week in that case, though that hasn't worked so well for me in the past.

I don't know if this is a known issue or not, but I've been getting SMS's either hours late or not at all until I restart the phone. The GF was extremely mad lol.

I haven't noticed this, but I'm paranoid about restarting the phone right now due to Maps. Could be that the Nigerian prince I helped out has been trying to make good on his end of the deal all this time... :D

Hello BSydz, just to report back, I flashed the kernel about 5pm and the jumbled text happened around 6pm.

I had that happen once before. It showed I had service and what not but wasn't getting the SMS incoming.Only found out when I was on KIK and tried to send a message and it wouldn't go out even tho I had full service.Just restarted the phone and messages came in.Otherwise outside that one time it hasn't happened to me.

Not to be rude at all because I LOVE what you're doing to our phones, you're restoring them from the dead basically!
I'm not a fan of PA, I prefer stock CM. But the front camera doesn't work on it, so I was wondering if we'll get some love to MTDev CM9, or if someone can help me setup a build environment to do it myself, I have a fairly decent computer.
Core i5 2500k, 8 GB RAM, 1.85 TB space, but I'm sure only the CPU matters anyways.

The MTDEV home page should have a how to on building a ROM and I'm sure BSydz has his Github on here with all his fixes.I myself LOVE PA.I think you would like the JB version of PA SOOOOOOO much more. But it doesn't have 3G and camera isn't completely working and headphones don't work and Wi-Fi doesn't save passwords. But trust me if you install the JB just for a taste you will fall in love with it.

there really isn't much difference with this and cm besides tablet ui which can be changed back to phone ui if that's what you prefer anyways im realy digging this rom but I too am randomly getting garbled text and after a few inverted system app mods I have no more memory I couldn't even update the play store I had to go in with root explorer and delete ring tones wallpapers and that boot animation is huge deleting that gave me like 40MBs and now shows the default android logo during boot up which I have always liked better anyways besides that great all around rom and nice job on the camera

Proximity sensor is still wonky. It's a bit of a bitch to get the screen back on when you're done with a call.

I am running MTDEV CM7 and have had frequent issues with the proximity sensor on my phone, both during a call if I need to use the keypad and after a call trying to get the screen to come back on. Since there are issues with this ROM as well I can't help but wonder if it's just another quirk of our oh-so-well-built Triumph itself and not an OS issue.

Also, on page 5 of this thread there are numerous mentions of the fonts not rendering properly. I ran MTDEV CM9 (20120913, I believe) for quite a while and had this same problem with that ROM. I use the Smoked Glass Weather Clock widget on my home screen and the rendering problem affected that as well. I've never had a problem with the fonts/icon labels on CM7 so this has to be something inherent to ICS. I haven't had a chance to give PA a test run yet though.

Not sure if this info is of any value, but hopefully it is.

You can start here.

I can get you pretty far. Last time I used it it worked fairly well. I did a fresh install and followed my own instructions. If you get stuck post in that thread please.

And a couple of other threads
