Droid 1, 2.2.3 OS (installed by previous owner)

never used a Droid phone before.

1) Where is the file manager?

2) i d/l and installed Opera mini. Where did i d/l it to? where is it installed to?

3) GPS is on. How do i find out my current location?

Welcome to the forums, Pi! :wavey:
1) Most Androids don't have a built in file manager. There are lots of free ones in the Play Store. Two of my favorites are Astro and ES File Explorer.
2)Opera Mini as with all apps should be downloaded to your internal memory. You can launch it from the app drawer (and make it the default browser if you prefer).
3)Go in Maps, click the compass button in the top right section of the map, it'll find your location.

1. You can install a file manager from the Google Play Store - search for "file manager" (without quotes). Some popular file managers are Astro, ES File Explorer.

2. The Opera mini browser installed to internal memory. Open your app drawer and you should see the Opera mini icon there in your apps list so you can launch it.

3. GPS is used by other apps (Maps, social network apps, etc.), but you can install a GPS app from the Google Play Store if you want.

Android phones ship with a limited number of apps to "get you started". One of the greatest features of an android phone is the Google Play Store, which allows you to install from a huge collection of apps.

hm.. cant find the standard version of ES File Explorer.

when i goto 'Market' on my phone and search, i only see ES File Explorer for Cupcake (1.5). in the notes, it says its only for OS 1.5.
for OS v2.0 and above, use the standard version.

Why cant i find the standard version while searching on my phone?
