i want to make free calling on my android phone using 4G without paying for a calling plan.. is it possible to just buy 4G minutes without a calling plan? if so, whats the best plan on tmobile?

I dont think thats possible, but you could always use your wifi and combine google voice and groove ip(or a similar app) to make free calls

The closest it gets that I have heard of is the t-mobile 100 minutes, unlimited texts and unlimited data plan (the first 5gb at 4g speed).
So very little minutes and the ability to have a mobile connection to make VoIP calls.

GrooveIP makes free calls if you're on a per-minute plan or a plan that has a set number of anytime minutes, however you also have to be wary of the amount of data used by VoIP apps, as that can add up and despite the claim of 'unlimited data' (especially with 4G/LTE) there is usually some kind of data cap and if you go over they can cut your data, slow you to below dial-up rates, or blacklist your ESN/IMEI in more severe cases.

There are voice/text only plans available to deaf subscribers in the U.S. if you're using VRS as your main means of communication. Not sure if hearing people are allowed to get those plans, as well.

I work with a company that's trying to get VRS in Canada. AFAIK, there's some kind of app for smartphones that does it; Skype/Facetime on roids. Don't know the particulars, except that it would have to be a data hog!

I think Simple Mobile (?) has an expensive data only plan for smart phones, but it's not even that much data. If you have an international phone you might be able to use an AT&T tablet plan. If you have good TMobile reception it makes more sense to use their $30 plan than screwing around with TMO tablet plan.
