Help No Voicemail Notification

I've looked around, and seen threads where people can't get rid of their voicemail notifications, but my problem is receiving any notification to begin with. This month, since I received my replacement phone, I haven't received any voicemail notifications. After a few people told me that they'd left me messages, and I wondered why messages I left were never being returned, I dialed my number to check my voicemail instead of using the app, and had over 20 new voicemails. For some reason, I am not getting any notifications, and the voicemail app shows nothing.

I called VM, but they couldn't figure anything out. They tried checking my account to make sure it was activated, resetting my voicemail service, and updating everything, but to no avail. I tried uninstalling the voicemail app, and restoring it with a previous version I'd had backed up, too. Does this sound like a software, or service issue?
 
I tried restoring an earlier backup I'd made, and also ran the RUU and set my phone back to default everything; when I did that, it did notify me that I had new voicemail, but I still couldn't check it through the VM app. But I'll take a notification that I have to call in to retrieve over nothing. I restored my phone back to the backup I made before trying all of this, and now I'm back to no notification icon, even. Any idea what I need to change to at least get the new VM notification icon?

Got a replacement Evo V from VM a few months back. Everything seemed fine until I returned a friends phonecall that I missed. He said he left a voicemail but I never got a notifications.

I manually dialed my phone number and got the prompt to set up VM again. I did so, thinking it would solve the issue. But nope, still no notifications. I can at least dial in and get the messages, but I'm bad with checking them so they pile up.

I just called Virgin and the guy "reset" my voicemail. He said I have to reset my phone and it should update. Going to test it out now.

Well, so far no go. I was expecting to have to re configure my voicemail and it just came up with the normal new message prompts. I guess I'll try later and see what happens.

I PMd you. If you haven't rooted your device or changed anything, get a new one, because they're not going to fix anything by messing around on their end. If you have, try restoring to stock and see if it works then. If it still doesn't work...get them to send you a replacement. Create a few tickets until they send you a new phone.

1) Update your handset profile first (Settings > System Update > Update Profile)


2) Try these steps from the given Help file:


Voicemail > Help > Troubleshooting > Re-activating the Application

Thanks, I'll give those steps a shot. I called support yet again yesterday and they had me to the update handset profile (I'm not sure why the three other support techs haven't had me do that yet). It didn't seem to help but she also stated that there is a maintenance going on the voicemail server.

I'm supposed to call back in 48 hours if the problem still exists. They're supposedly sending my case up to the hardware specialists to see if it might be a hardware issue, although honestly I don't think they have much of a communication system in place... not only do I have to explain my issue every time I call, but I have to re-explain it to every person I talk to even if it's the same call. So frustrating.

I just noticed that the link says to use "activate@vvm.sprint.com" even though I'm on Virgin Mobile. I recall someone saying that the Evo V uses Sprint's VM servers instead of Virgin's, so is that the correct address to use?
