Help Stuck on Version 4.0.4 - Galaxy S3

Hi all,

I've been waiting a while for Orange to dish out Jellybean to my S3 but no sign of it. Still stuck on v4.0.4. The funniest thing is I have a friend on T-Mobile which has had it since he got his S3. Are they not part of the same company?

I really didn't want to have to root my phone. Am I going to get it legit? Are there any other ways of trying to get the update?

Hi Wilk04, and welcome to AF :)

If you have an Orange-branded phone the only options are either to wait for Orange to release it, or to root and install a custom ROM. The latter is completely legit in the sense of legal, but Orange will regard your warranty as void unless you can return to stock before returning it (should you need to).

Orange and T-Mobile are part of the same company now, but your handset has Orange software and so will still have to wait for the Orange division to release the update. You'd hope they'd do so, but I have no insider knowledge.

You might find more information in our S3 forum: Samsung Galaxy S3 - Android Forums. If you do give in and decide to root, there's a subforum dedicated to that.

Good luck!
