THIS WORKED FOR MY HTC WILDFIRE S FOR VIRGIN MOBILE CDMA PHONE......NOT GSM(sim card) you can try but it may be an APN setting issue with the GSM phone.
If you are getting the "generic network failure" every time you try to send or download mms on your wildfire s follow the bellow procedure I received from christopher @HTC. I did it and everything works perfectly now. It removed all the third party bullshit that was eating up my memory....WARNING!!! It will delete all apps and data on the phone. So make sure you move what you can to the SD card. It worked for me and maybe it can help you.
You can back the contacts up through People>Menu>Import/Export>Export to SD, this will back your contact to your SD Card. I would recommend bringing them to your Google account, tap People>Menu>Import/Export>Import from SD>Google. Select one vcard file if it prompts you, and choose the one with the most recent date. Your applications will all be backed up to your Google Account, and can be recovered through the Play Store.
You can confirm that your contacts are backed up from tapping onto People>Menu>View, from here you should have a "0" next to phone, and a larger number next to Google since that is where the contacts are now backed up to.
Regarding the factory reset, I would suggest doing it manually by following the steps below;
1. Turn the power off, pull the battery out and reinsert it. 2. Hold the Volume Down button. 3. Press and hold the Power button until the device turns on. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastboot, Recovery, Clear Storage/Factory Reset, and Simlock. 4. Select Clear Storage/Factory Reset by pressing the Volume Down button 5. Press and release the Power button Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
Once the phone reboots, it will prompt you to set back up the phone, ensure that you recall the Google account information so that you can get your contacts and applications back. If you do not recall the password on the account, you can retrieve it through
Google, tap onto sign in at the top right corner and choose forgot password.
