great.. so beats audio wont improve the speaker sound/vol and we will get sense 3.6 which is not much different than what we are running now.. Also most of the vivid devs are gone.. game over, were screwed.. haha
I tested it with my headphones last night and the beats do make it a bit louder in my headphones but that's about it.The sense update is nice and the ICS Upgrade is awesome and well worth getting.

beats audio works just fine...as long as your headphones are plugged in. Sense 3.6 is worlds better than 3.0 or 3.5. WildChild is now functioning perfectly fine on his own website/forum. GSLeon is working with DutchDanny on a Bindroid rom...thecubed is working on CM9...seems to me that we're on the upswing...

It worked:)
Go to menu/Personalize/Personalize sound/Notification sound/Email
From there you can set your default/Message/Calendar/Email sounds.
I just tested it with the email notification sound and it works.
Thanks for all your help Rico!

THANK YOU!!!! I was having the same problem with my new Vivid which is running ICS 4.0 (I think). I just moved over from the iPhone.

Unlike you, I had tried some of the non-native email apps but the allegedly best one K-9 made you use the menu button to get "reply" and "send" etc up and as a former iPhone user I kept pushing the wrong button. K-9 also would not automatically sync my second account.

I like the native email app and like you I do not want to change it. :D

When you load the Email app and click on "Accounts". Then see your various accounts. from there you selected an account > menu > more > Account Settings > Notification Settings > Select ringtone

(Do you see these menu options when getting to one of your registered email accounts as shown above?

This is exactly what I want, but Im on a galaxy s 4g, and I dont have that option when I go to my gmail app. Can anyone recommend a thread or give me the solution for my device?

Here's how I've gotten distinct notification on emails from particular persons or group in the standard Gmail app. I had stumbled into this in my Motorola Photon a while back, then forgot how when I recently migrated to a new phone. Finally it came back to me, so I don't think it's entirely tied to the model of phone, but maybe to a version of Android. I'm now 4.1. It wasn't one of the settings that auto-restored from Google.
1) set up a filter/label to capture those emails-there's ample filters in Gmail settings to accomplish this however you wish. (I did this in Gmail on my laptop.)
2) go to that label in the Gmail app of Android phone .
3) While in that label, select the menu (three vertical square dots in upper right)
4) Select Label Settings. (Shows Settings and Label Settings. Choose Label Settings)
4a) I am not sure if this is critical, but I selected sync last 30 days.
5) Under Notifications (in the Label Settings) select Label Notifications
6) select sound (you can pick), if desired select vibrate.
7) Finally select Notify for ever message.

Now I get a distinctive ding dong every time that special message arrives.
