Help I just want free Wifi

A few years back I jailbroke and unlocked a few iPhones for my then fiancee to use overseas. I thought Android would be simpler. I now know the error of my ways.

I have the VS920 with the most recent updates. I finally successfully rooted today, but of course my Kernel is missing what it needs for the Wifi Tethering for Rooted app.

So what is the simplest way for me to go ahead and update that to a compatible Kernel and run my free Wifi?

Btw, I'm mad at my carrier right now. The court said they couldn't charge extra for hotspot on 4G. They told me that's only for non-unlimited plans. So tonight, I finally decided to go ahead and get the limited plan (I never use more than the 2GB anyway) and sure enough they told me, that's only with the Share Everything plans--which is of course way more expensive than what I have.

There is a thread on the first page of the forum that answered the question you were looking for, so why did you give up your unlimited data package?

For best results though, if you're already rooted and know how to jailbreak iphones, you may as well just get a custom rom like Cyanogen (current stable is 10.1.3) which has wifi tether built into it.

Hi, Try Fox fi from the Google Play Market a free app. I tried Fox fi with the Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 Rom and it worked , I wirelessly tethered from my Prepaid Unlimited LG Spectrum with Verizon . I tried other apps and they wouldn't tether even though the apps would say "..wireless tether was successful..".

I know it does . For some reason it appears to be working and establish a successful connection as hotspot but no actual transfer of data happens , I tried the Barnacle, wireless tether and even Pdanet . These apps would all make successful connections but data would be blocked somehow , then I tried with Foxfi and it did worked and it actually would integrate with Cyanogenmod tether and hotspot settings in which it would be either to turn on app traight from settings or from the Foxfi app itself. I read that the Verizon Samsung Galaxies 2,3,4 and Notes 2.3 and other phones were not having tether active in Cyanogenmod Jellybeans , and that it was mostly Verizon somehow interfering . I couldn't get native built-in tether and hotspot in Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 to actually transfer data , either in wireless mode or with the usb cable. I have this Spectrum flashed to Verizon prepaid plans , I have other Spectrum flashed to Pageplus but have yet to test if it works or not since Pageplus has its own rules probably.

Interesting. That may be an issue due to you having 3G instead of running off of a LTE card. Thank you for the feedback on that.
